Flip the picture back, then the mat back, and you have a matted picture!

This one goes to Corporal Tunnel. :)

step 14: here's the total finished front of the female blue crab's belly. in our reference photo, there may be more than 3 horizontal lines, but i didn't want it to get all busy.

more of step 13: here's the final outline of the female crab's abdomen shape

more step 15: final shape of the dorsal groove

you don't *have* to put anything on your crab's back if you don't want to, but i think it looks too plain otherwise.

step 16: sew the neck & bottom edges like you did for the front

One could ask, "When do you know when a cigar is finished?" The best answer is, it'll let you know. There are signs: The cigar begins getting soft, the wrapper begins wilting like a leaf in fall, the billowing smoke becomes a stream, and the flame is no longer burning as strong as it once was.

When the cigar reaches completion, its best not to attempt to keep it going, no matter as tempting as that may be. And you should NEVER try to relight it if it goes out at that point.

Also, you should never extinguish a cigar; let it go out on its own volition. A cigar is like a woman: After receiving so much pleasure, just let her sleep (I hope my wife doesn't mind this analogy).

Paint with chalkboard paint mix immediately, as it begins to harden quickly.

You now sew the sides, face and back, together.

At $20 for six wine charms retail, I decided to try to make my own. These are made with hoop earrings, two metal beads and swarovsky crystals. All materials purchased at the Bead Gallery in Ann Arbor, www.beadgalleryannarbor.com

Using some pins, secure the binding in place so there isn't any puckering or bunching. I like to only pin about 8 hexagons at a time. Then I pin the next 8 when I get to them.

Lift the shifter panel and pull it back.

How can something be "New" and "Improved" at the same time? Hmmm... Anyway, these are my new toys. Beats the heck out of masking tape and shop lights.

The lens is a good one but pretty cheap since it's manual. It's perfect for this situation. You want a manual f-stop selection on the lens. I think it would be better if it were the same size (filter diameter) as the camera lens but I'm not sure. You can get one exactly like the one I have (MC Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4) for about 20 bucks on ebay. The MD version is a bit cheaper and will probably work as well. You want a fixed lens and it should be shorter than your camera lens for magnification. Actual magnification, as I understand it, is the length of the camera lens divided by the length of the reversed lens. Mine is 55mm / 50mm so 1.1x times 4 for the Canon sensor configuration. That seems to be about right from the unofficial measuring I've done.

The reverse coupler rings come in different sizes like 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm and bigger and even some that mix and match. Unfortunately the 58mm to 55mm that I needed was out of stock. So I had to double my investment and get a 55mm to 55mm coupler with a 58mm to 55mm step down ring. They're only about 8 bucks each so we're not talking too much money. :)

And the biggest investment was the hot-shoe remote cable at about 35 bucks. But what it allowed me to do was to increase my shutter speeds from multiple seconds at f/22 to 1/100 or faster at f/22. WAY better!

The only drawbacks... you have to get REALLY close, as you can see here. And I get a black vignette around the image which forces me to crop to a very small area. I can live with that for these awesome (IMO) shots! :D

Enjoy!

As I build new stuff with Legos I use this plate as a color reference. Hard to believe all my Legos simplify into just these colors. I think I will add the transparent colors to make it complete.
