Hover fly and white lily

A hover car. The idea here was to create a vehicle using the four round and grey technic pieces for the engines.

Genau so kennt man ihn, den Hover Dam

First attempt with my new 105mm macro. Even though it was hovering it was too quick for me and autofocus!

A hover fly is roughly half the size of a regular house fly. Just to give you an idea on just how small this thing is.

Just a quick spot of macro before the day gets too hot along the Rea Brook

I spent a magical evening with 4 fledgling kestrels last night. The sunset provided beautiful golden light for them to glow in as I watched them try what must have been some of their first hovers and longer flights.

After a lengthy wait sitting in a flowerbed the Hover Fly finally came to say hello.

I don't know the correct name for this fly. It sat very patiently for quite a while to let me take this pic.

I'm really pleased with the amazing detail the camera captured. It was a bit breezy, the flowers were waving around and I had no tripod. Testament to the incredible capability of the FZ18.

The blue around the petal on the far right is a bit worrying. I'm not sure if this is just chromatic abberation or a symptom of the Lumix blue banding problem. Hmmm.

I was taking a photograph of a beautifully white flower when I noticed the hover-fly. He flew around the flower for a few moments, then settled down. I took a number of pictures, but then noticed the proboscis.

Hovering at about 1 meter.

One of the many poppies in my backyard with what looks to be a Hover Fly hanging out and enjoying some lunch.

Hover fly on a flower, these guys are a little bigger so better for focus also love the colours.

I got the 2x TC out today to see how it would work with the 180mm ... jury is still out.

Basically, I need to mow my yard ... there was ALWAYS just one blade of grass in the image.

Now you know how I decide to mow my yard :D
