Weather: Rainy every morning clearing briefly in the afternoons
These photographs are from a May trip in 2003 to Acadia National Park. I had planned the trip to coincide with leaf break but due to an unusually long winter/spring, the trees had just barely leafed out. Oddly enough, I had also planned to get away from the city lights of Boston and primarily photograph at night, all in color. Well, it decided to rain almost the entire week, at night as well, so I almost packed it in and came home. (I had been hoping for clear night skies to do long star exposures under a very new moon) Obviously, I didn't as evidenced here. This seemed like a good challenge. Every morning I awoke to rain in some form, every afternoon I was given just enough time to take these pictures.

Scotland - 2005

Average Exposure: 5 - 10 Minutes
These photos are from a trip to Scotland in 2005. I had gone there for a friends wedding and stayed over for a week to visit the countryside for a week of photography.
In creating these images I used all of my classic film and darkroom technique and applied it to a digital work environment. The original photo was captured on medium format film and digitized via drum scanner. I then limited myself to what I believed would have been possible in a traditional wet (color) darkroom. In essence, I printed a black and white negative on color paper. With the exception of "Tree and Cuillin Hills" which is a color negative, all of these images where created by making broad enlargement burning and dodging masks. Further, each mask was given a specific color balance, Ie. blue or green.

I inherited the tusk lamps which were published in 1969.
I had them published in 2005...and they were shown on my TV documentary in 2010.
The necklace on the Gazelle sculpture belonged to my Mother who passed in November 2018. Sterling and turquoise.
The framed engraving on the mantel is 18th century.
The Raku pieces on the mantel are signed originals.
The main painting over the sofa is " Storm at Cape Henlopen"
Sofa- BoConcepts. Microfiber ultra-suede.
Rug is Pottery Barn...yes !
Chair is Maitland Smith. Custom, 22 carat gold and black lacquer.

The silver tray which holds the remotes is circa 1930.
Cloisonné accessories are from the 1920's.
The Imperial shell is from Indonesia - stuffed with Crate and Barrel iridescent holiday ornaments.
The Jim Thompson silk skirted end tables cover my pair of circa 1980 BOSE 501 speakers.... I had them made to cover the speakers...and yet the sound comes through. The sound of those speakers is amazing.
Bruce hardwood cherry finish hardwood flooring, high gloss.
Love it.
And the waterfall cocktail table IS the original..circa 1980.
