As I promised, here is another composition that I tried similar to What's up your mind.
This I clicked yesterday. The other one, which I shot on that day, on second thoughts, did not appeal much with some distractions in the background.
Critiques more than welcome on composition and some processing done here.

Salvia microphylla 'Hot Lips' - Salie
Het fenomeen doet zich echter voor dat bij heel warm weer de bloemen vaak geheel wit of soms geheel rood worden. Zodra de nachttemperaturen weer wat dalen is het spektakel weer terug.

Salvia microphylla 'Hot Lips' - Sage
However, the phenomenon occurs that in very warm weather the flowers often turn completely white or sometimes completely red. As soon as the night temperatures drop a bit, the spectacle is back.

I love the lustrous dark blue and the blazing red wing flags. And the shadow this Postman is leaving on these fuzzy Hot Lips!
Heliconius melpomene, the postman butterfly, common postman or simply postman, is a brightly colored butterfly found throughout Mexico and Central America. It was first described by Carl Linnaeus in his 1758 10th edition of Systema Naturae. Its coloration coevolved with a sister species H. erato as a warning to predators of its inedibility; this is an example of Müllerian mimicry. H. melpomene was one of the first butterfly species observed to forage for pollen, a behavior that is common in other groups but rare in butterflies. Because of the recent rapid evolutionary radiation of the genus Heliconius and overlapping of its habitat with other related species, H. melpomene has been the subject of extensive study on speciaiztion and hybridization. Hybrids tend to have low fitness as they look different from the original species and no longer exhibit Müllerian mimicry.
Yes, this unusual flower is called Hot Lips! Hot Lips is a member of Rubiaceae, the coffee family. This large shrub is widely distributed in tropical forests from southern Mexico to northernmost Argentina. To attract its main pollinators, hummingbirds, its inconspicuous inflorescences are framed by two glossy, bright red bracts that look like a pair of pouting lips. An easily grown and attractive ornamental for the tropics, it also has a number of applications in traditional medicine.

Just saw the GF-1's white balance setting was on Daylight. Edited the file in Lightroom 3.2 and voilà! A much more pleasing image.
I've included the unedited image in the comments below.

The Heliconius butterfly can live up to 9 months while neotropical butterflies normally live a couple weeks! They are able to do this because they increase their protein intake by digesting pollen on the proboscis.
Heliconius butterflies have two unique traits: pollen feeding and pupal-mating. Adult butterflies systematically collect pollen from flowers which they masticate on the proboscis to dissolve out amino acids. Since they do not need to store nutrients for egg and sperm production, caterpillars are able to develop rapidly allowing adults to have a greatly extended lifespan in the wild.
Pupal mating is a second unusual trait found in some Heliconius species. Males search for female pupae on larval food plants and sit on them. Mating occurs the next morning before the female has completely emerged. Pupal-mating may enhance the possibility of intrageneric mimicry. Second, this mating tactic may influence host-plant specialization, as pupal-mating species may displace other heliconiines from their hosts by interference competition.
About the name... Helicon is a mountain in southern Greece, in Boeotia, regarded in ancient Greece, as the source of poetry and inspiration. From it flowed the fountains of Aganippe and Hippocrene associated with Muses. The nine Muses are daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory. The Muses sat near the throne of Zeus, king of the gods, and sang of his greatness and of the origin of the world.

Noted for its pretty bicolor flowers, Salvia 'Hot Lips' is an evergreen perennial that will reward you with a profusion of eye-catching, brilliant red and white flowers from early summer to frost. Borne in loose terminal racemes, the blossoms are lipstick red in early summer, turn vivid red and pure white in mid-late summer before change to white when the days shorten. Enjoying a long blooming season, they rise above a handsome bush of small, ovate, aromatic green leaves. The very attractive flower stalks are of great aesthetic appeal in beds or borders and attract score of butterflies, hummingbirds and beneficial insect.
It is a recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.

Virgin 747-400 "Hot Lips" bound for Orlando.
Taking off from Manchester runway 23 Right.
The rotation point is the best part of a mile form the observation area.
Sad to think the 747 is now quickly declining in numbers. Airlines only want fuel efficient twins. The era of the four engined jumbo is over. Even Airbus can't sell anymore A380's - no new orders in over a year. Interesting to note that no American carrier has ever bought one.
BIG THANKS TO ALL FOR COMMENTS / FAVORITES
Flamenco dancers! Elegantly dressed Spanish courtiers... these are the grand ones of the Heliconius melpomenes.

The rice paper butterfly, also called paper kite, wood nymph, or tree nymph (Idea leuconoe) is a distinctive black and white butterfly. The wingspan is 95-110mm across.
The larval wood nymphs are similar to monarch caterpillars in that they feed on plants in the Apocenaceae (dogbane) and Asclepiadaceae (milkweed) families. Also like the monarchs, giant wood nymphs are distasteful to predators, and they derive this protection from the toxins produced by their host plants.

Postman butterfly on Psychotria elata, commonly known as hot lips or hooker's lips. Pozo Azul Hacienda, Costa Rica. Conservation status: least concern
Yes, this unusual flower is called Hot Lips!
There are over 2,000 species of Psychotria, the genus under which Hot Lips falls. Where does Hot Lips grow? Psychotria elata is part of the tropical rainforest understory flora of the Americas. It is a unique plant with uninteresting flowers but fabulous lip-like bracts. The plant can be difficult to grow and has very special cultivation conditions.
Hot lips grows as a shrub or small tree. The plant has deeply veined simple leaves of matte green. The flower is actually a pair of modified leaves that pout around the tiny star-like white to cream flowers. These become small bluish-black berries. The plant is very attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds.
