macro mondays - Monday, June 27: Bubbles

To create longer lasting bubbles I used a small amount of food colouring with a few drops of washing up liquid added, do not add extra water. Put both ingredients into a small tumbler glass, use a drinking straw to make the bubbles up to the top of the glass, then scoop them out with a spoon. The bubbles are robust enough to stay on the spoon for up to 20 minutes or longer depending on the mix. Time enough to play around with different backgrounds and lighting.

I've used a blue food colouring here and then dropped more colour from a drinking straw into the folds for definition, that's how robust the bubbles are!

Have fun :))

Macro Mondays 6/02/17 theme Say Cheese!

This wasn't my idea for what I wanted but I needed to grill my cheese first anyway, then I thought I would try to photograph it while it was cooking....NOT the best idea I have had.I needed to get the camera lens close in which at first was ok but as it started to get hot I notice moisture starting to build up on the inside of the lens which made me panic and think I had damaged it.So left it to cool down and set up for the shots I was going to do.Went back to the lens to find it was now clear thank god.So in future I will not take my lens from a cold room and start taking photo's of hot items.Lesson learnt.

With another trip to the tropics nearing (not CR), I'm getting myself in the mood by posting previously unposted tropics shots. Insanely beautiful snake.

Not the best lens for a fast roadrunner. Love to see them.

*Good Morning (A)*

i love spring breaks :')

First truly cold day in the garden. Time to turn up my mental heat, embrace this shift in temperature and prepare for the long winter up ahead.

…the other shot.

In the brutal, heat of a desert afternoon...an explosion of spores as mushrooms are hit with a blast of water from the garden hose.

Again I'm not a massive fan of themes with such a large scope as I find them difficult to narrow down. In fact talking to my partner about what I was doing she came with with about another 20 suggestions!!

What this did give me though was the opportunity to try out quite a few things. I fell foul of living at both ends of the country again because my zippo isn't 'here'!

So to catch a match just as it catches. Easy (really???). And I didn't even get through a whole box! Apparently they burn at around 800c - I think that qualifies as hot?!. And have a light temp of around 1500K which leads on to...

Zenithal of a male specimen of Lestes barbarus in a small abandoned quarry near the Alicante town of Biar.

There were two very dry mud spots on the upper part of the thorax. The female did not appear.

It was very, very hot.

will be gone for next couple of days... have a good rest of the week!

I'm grateful for your views... have a nice day everyone :)

To date I've not done much with still life photography. In November there was next to nothing that looked at all interesting until I noticed the colours and lines of the hot peppers I was going to use that evening to make dinner.
