Tootsie Roll Lollipop, Cherry Flavor. UR Amazing!
Following up on the Birthday present I started last year on Facebook, I've shot a new lollipop to give away. Marybeth came home with them from school and this one caught my eye, I really thought the flavor was something new like cotton candy or pink lemonade, I was surprised to find out it was good old cherry!
Last year I struggled like crazy to get the focus stack to work and I've come to the conclusion that the distortion introduced by the Nikon 55mm caused the problem. Further research will be required to determine if the issue was inherent in the lens or the fact that I had reached the limitations of focus stacking with a 55mm lens. I shot this with the Voigtlander 125mm and processed the 54 image stack with Helicon stacking software. OK I admit it, a bit excessive at f/8 but I'm still learning and more layers SHOULD produce a better image. I'm very impressed with the working of the Helicon software (FINALLY) which seemed to work better than my horrible trials I conducted last year. The stack came out just perfect, I'm amazed at the subject edge definition. It's also cool to watch the alignment and stacking take place within the application and displayed on the computer screen.
So, if by chance it's your birthday, I'm ahead of the game - Happy Birthday!
The original image (with green background) was shot with the VOIGTLANDER, 125mm f/2.5 SL, MACRO APO-LANTHAR @ f/8, 54 Layer Focus Stack. Helicon (B,R8,S4).
And Thank You Lenebem-Anna for use of the textures.
It is horrible here with gales and yet more gales forecast this week so I needed brighening up and hope this does the same for any who are also fed up with the weather! One from the archives
Linus relaxing on a wooden bookcase in the living room. It has been a stormy and rainy day and he was watching the plants dancing in the wind in front of the living room window. Watching the weather seems to have a hypnotizing effect on Linus as he didn't move for an eternity which is quite unusal.
Stock Dove, these are amber listed, which surprised me. Just 7 more LD2 days to go (8 if you count the 2nd Dec)
I did get some Sparrowhawk close-up's which I was tempted to use, but resisted. I might put a couple up as well. Another horrible wet day with high ISO - who knows what's in store for us tomorrow?
The traffic was horrible up to the griffith observatory that day (I know... LA traffic..). When we finally found a place to park the car, the sun had already set, and we were running like maniacs to get to the observatory before the "good light" hit. As if that wasn't enough, when I had found a spot to put my tripod down, I could barely see a couple of miles. Fortunately the fog cleared up enough to clearly see Downtown, and I got a decent shot.
At one time St. Georges quay was a a major slave port, fortunately times have changed.

Posted to show a fisherman the best way to survive a crocodile attack in Australia.
The thing to remember is crocodiles have a flap of skin at the back of their mouth that prevents water from getting into their lungs and drowning them. This is important because if you get taken by a croc remember it is better to push an arm or leg DOWN their throat than try to pull away from them.
If the flap is open they cannot submerge as they will drown quicker than you will.
Remember their are many many horrible ways to die if you visit Australia :-)
Under horrible summer sun, 66432 passes Roade with 4L48 11:16 Crick-Tilbury on the 23rd of July 2012. It is summer again and it has come too quickly. Hopefully, the worst season and this horrible heat will soon pass, Roll on the autumn!
Storm and torrential rain, Linus can't believe what he is seeing when he looks out of the window today. THE BIRDS are hiding, instead all kinds of strange things are flying by, things which usually don't fly, like wheelie bins and their contents. In this kind of weather you happily are an indoor cat for a day or two. You wouldn't want to stand in the way when the next wheelie bin comes around the corner !
As mentioned within my previous photo we are having another horrible day with a storm warning for Friday and Saturday. Storm Amy will be with us tomorrow and Saturday!!
I ran down to the beach this morning, between heavy rain showers, and caught this bleak shot across the sea!!

Purple hour over Sedona originally horribly underexposed brought back from the brink by luminosity mask tools I have been doing some Lumenzia course work the past few weeks while not traveling and the wife is traveling.
Sedona is famous for its sunsets and though I waited patiently for one as long as possible it never arrived so this is the best I could muster, black and blue with a purple hue of the hills of Sedona tightly hugging the town as its lights are just starting to glow.
I would love to say that I have further shots from the sunrise morning on Schnebly Hill but unfortunately our plans of spending the morning and day shooting buttes before heading to Flagstaff was a big fail.
It started raining hard right at this shot and didn’t stop until checkout around 11:30 rained so hard little streams were formed all over the hotel property can’t imagine what is was like in the bush.
I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70mm 2.8 G2 Lens at 70mm 1s, f/13 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia

My daily weather report: a horrible mixture of rain, sleet and snow, no outdoor weather for cats although Linus and Fynn both tried but returned after a few minutes. Fynn and Cleo both decided to do the only reasonable thing to do on such a day and took a long, long nap. Linus who considers sleep as a waste of time, was bored (again), especially as I had to work and did my best not to show any reaction to his meowing. The meowing finally stopped when Linus discovered a FLY in the house. Super entertainment for Linus but not so much for everybody else as Linus is a chaotic and noisy hunter. I couldn't concentrate on my work anymore and Cleo erupted like a feline volcano when Linus ran into her for the second time. Twenty minutes and a broken flower pot later the fly was history. Peace returned and while I cleaned the floor Linus mentioned that he was bored (again).
This is one of those photos that after scanning I realized just how badly I need a new scaner around. The shadows are horrible, especially in areas between midrange shades and shadows. Its like it takes my nice looking prints and turns them into a cheap digital mess. These areas, the dark shadows, in digital imagery are still easily its weakest point in my eyes and is why I've gone back to film. Sad thing is that even the developing place im using for color developing (like most these days) is using a digital process to make the prints from my film... just cant get away from it :)
So, aside from the shadow and color issues there is also the inhumane amount of time spent removing dust and such which is actually inside the scanner now... frustrating. yes. But its what I have available to me at the moment, such is life.
I bought some fabric last week thinking it would be great to make some dresses for Punzie.
But it is horrible to work with.
It's stiff, and it comes apart.
Still I wanted at least one picture with her wearing the dress.
I believe I'm going to use the rest of the fabric to make pillows or/ and couch pillows.
Constructing the couch is my weekend project, along sewing two more dresses.
Also as you can see the curlers weren't much of a succes.
Well they were last night, gorgeous volume, but after a night spending in her transportation book storage thingy it ended up a mess.
So she got a small shower after all :S

Camp Aranzazu is located in Rockport, Texas (camparanzazu.org/) If you are looking for a good charitable organization to make donations or know of individuals with special needs who would benefit from the services provided, look them up. Anyway, I am fortunate enough to have a friend involved with the organization and got special permission to go (no events in session) and take some photos. This huge horrible thistle was blooming and caught my eye.
