I just received this new Berny watch...very cool design BUT, the dome dial does not have AR coating and so it was IMPOSSIBLE to shoot without crazy reflections. But, still a cool watch. My unofficial F1 Racing Day watch! ️

Minerva 19/14 stopwatch with 7-jewel movement and 30 second main dial and a 15 minute sub-dial.
It would appear that this is a Minerva calibre 19''' no 14 stop watch mechanism; see Minerva SA (n.d.) l'Histoire Minerva, s.l. [Villeret]: Minerva SA. P. 11 and see this page of Jobin, Albert Ferdinand (1939) La classification Horlogère des calibres de montres et des fournitures d'horlogerie suisse. 2ème édition, Genève : La Classification Horlogère. P. 232.—While the ebauche was supplied by Minerva, the casing and dial may have been a third party, possibly German supplier.
Movement Serial number: #1546705.—Case serial number: #286550 (it may be significant that in both instances the '6' of the case serial number is stamped slightly raised (see here and here).
The back of the watch case is inscribed" "Eigentum der | Notgemeinschaft der | D[eutschen] Wissenschaft | Nr 10018".—Given the text of the inscription, the stop watch dates to the period 1920–1929 (after which the Notgemeinschaft was renamed to Deutsche Gemeinschaft zur Erhaltung und Förderung der Forschung). For background on the Notgemeinschaft der deutschen Wissenschaft see here and here.

The only way to determine which one I prefer, is to give this one just as much wrist time as its sister 085 has gotten over the last week or so. I mean, this looks pretty damn good, and feels good on my wrist too...

The Great Clock (Le Gros-Horloge) in Rouen is one of Europe’s oldest working clocks - the mechanism of which dates back to 1389. Léon-Jules Lemaître (1850-1905), a local artist, painted the clock and its bustling street three times.
Lemaître, together with Joseph Delattre, Charles Angrand and Charles Frechon, was part of an artistic movement that was named l’école de Rouen. They developed a particular style which became known as Normandy Impressionism – and, not surprisingly, Rouen and the River Seine feature prominently in their work.
More than a century later, here’s my very approximate photographic attempt to match Lemaître’s perspective – but my excuse is that I didn’t have his original to hand at the time! (I’ve done something similar with Monet here.)
My brush with horological royalty...
So I read about Karl-Friedrich Scheufele in a review of a fantastic Chopard chronograph (the Grand Prix of Monaco Historique)...Mr. Scheufele is co-President of Chopard. Karl-Friedrich is also a classic car collector which makes sense considering Chopard's sponsorship of the Mille Miglia and the GPMH...and the gorgeous watches the company provides for the racers in these events.
After reading about Mr. Scheufele, I went to my archives and sure enough...here are Karl-Friedrich and Christine Scheufele in an amazing 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza in the rain on the streets of Brescia, IT on the first day of the Mille Miglia 2013.
I was shooting video of the car, so this image is a screen grab from the clip and, thus, not terribly high resolution. But you get the idea...I was literally inches away from the car on the crowded, narrow street.

GONE - A more up-to-date use for the modern day rake would be a dressing room display so magnificent that Bertie Wooster's unflappable Jeeves himself might miss a beat when he saw it. Rolled ties, luxury watches, sunglasses, kid-leather driving gloves, pocket squares--everything a gentleman might possible need can fit in this spectacular display, save perhaps a jereboam of champagne. The 2KG of Beluga caviar can go in fine.
Put together from Swiss components by the Prestige Time Corporation in China.
Better finished than the other example on here!
I cannot get this particular watch off my wrist! It is a 44mm dial with a wonderful bracelet. I know it is on my wrist but it is comfy. Probably my fav watch pickup all year.
