LOCATION: Infinite Darkness
Now the home of Hop Kiln Winery, this old building once housed a hop roasting factory. Russian immigrants to this part of California used the hops in their beer making processes. As beer making became integrated, this kiln was no longer needed. Healdsburg, CA. Fujifilm X-A1 and XC16-50.

The Hop Exchange is a Grade II listed building at No. 24 Southwark Street, London, in the Bankside area of the London Borough of Southwark. Opened in 1867 and designed by R.H. Moore it served as the centre for hop trading for the brewing industry.
A glass roof allowed business on the trading floor of the Great Hall to be conducted under natural light, but wartime bombing, fires, redevelopment and modernisation have left the Hop Exchange the only one still standing. However, a fire in 1920 led to the top two storeys being removed, and the Hop Exchange was then converted into offices.
Thank you for all the comments and faves. Appreciated.
Hops has been my closest friend, partner in crime and an inspiration to me for a long time now. We've bombed, traveled, boosted and painted some of our best work together. Hops is one of the hardest working and most dedicated writers I've ever met.
After 'hopping' off Hop 2 branded Scania, WA13GDY, at Newton Abbot's Sherborne Road where it is pictured in heavy rain, there was then a 25 minute wait for my Hop 12 Scania home. What a fine spot to spend time of an evening...... lol! 😉😂

Not hops, but the flowers of an American hophornbeam tree! Convergent evolution?
On the Stone Mountain Trail in Sycamore Park
Decatur (Sycamore Ridge), Georgia, USA.
13 May 2023.
▶ The blossoms of hophornbeam trees closely resemble the seed cones of hop plants (which are used to flavor beer). But hophornbeams, despite a similarity in appearance (and name), are not hops ... and, indeed, would not be particularly tasty in beer!
▶ For comparison, see an actual hop cone: here.

▶ "Ostrya virginiana —commonly known as the American hophornbeam, eastern hophornbeam, hardhack (in New England), ironwood, and leverwood— is a species of Ostrya —deciduous trees belonging to the birch family Betulaceae— native to eastern North America.
Ostrya virginiana is a small deciduous understory tree growing to 59 feet tall (18 m) with a trunk 8-20 inches in diameter (20–50 cm). The flowers are catkins (spikes) produced in early spring at the same time as the new leaves appear. In early summer, pollinated female flowers develop into small hop-resembling fruits, 1⁄8–3⁄16 inches long (3–5 mm), changing from greenish-white to dull brown as the fruit matures."
