A birthday present from my parents: an 8-inch tall hookah. (My bachelor party dinner was held at Istanbul Cafe, an excellent - if snug - Turkish restaurant. We enjoyed two hookahs during the evening.)
Don't turn me into the bar association just yet. No, this is not pot. I dined at a Lebanese restaurant and after dinner they brought around a "hookah" to smoke. It was a combination of tobacco, molasses and some apple scent. I don't smoke so this was a new experience. I smoked a cigar once in college and this was not nearly that bad.

"Hookah — also called narghile, shisha and goza — is a water pipe. The device has been used for centuries in the Middle East and Asia to smoke tobacco. Now, hookah bars and cafes are popping up across the United States — fueled by the growing popularity of hookah smoking among teens and young adults.
Although many believe that the water in the hookah filters out all the "bad stuff" in the tobacco smoke, this isn't true. According to a recent World Health Organization (WHO) advisory, a typical one-hour session of hookah smoking exposes the user to 100 to 200 times the volume of smoke inhaled from a single cigarette. Even after passing through the water, the tobacco smoke produced still contains high levels of toxic compounds, including carbon monoxide, heavy metals and cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens). I can't really post the picture that I want to here. Two of my associates felt like their judgment could come under scrutiny if seen smoking tobacco from a hookah (called a shisha or a hubbly bubbly in Bahrain). So this is the best I have. It is a picture of the ceiling in the hookah bar that our guide Faris took us to. The decor was beautiful and the food was very good. And the hookah smoke smelled and tasted exquisite. I highly recommend it if you get the chance.
