Starting to look like a usable hook now, isn't it? As smooth as it may look in the photos, this hook is not smooth enough to use. This is still too rough for tough yarns, much less fine yarns. And I'm not done with the shaping yet. So more shaping and lots of sanding are left. I use super fine grade sandpapers and fabrics to help polish my hooks once the shape is in its final state.
(Don't be afraid to spend the money on good tools and good sandpapers when you're making your own hooks. It's worth the time and attention to get a better product.)
