My first latch-hook rug design. I adapted this design from a 1950s pulp western novel. All 100% wool, approximately 3.5 by 5 feet.
i chose this image specifically because i was interested in taking what is sort of perceived as a "granny craft" and making an absurdly masculine image with it.
The lighthouse at of Sandy Hook, NJ, is the oldest working lighthouse in the country.
It was designed and built in 1764 by Isaac Conro. The light was built to aid mariners entering the southern end of the New York harbor. It was originally called New York Lighthouse because it was funded through a New York Assembly lottery and a tax on all ships entering the Port of New York. Sandy Hook Light has endured the occupancy of British soldiers during the Revolutionary War and exposure to the elements on the end of Sandy Hook. The view of the New York skyline from the bridge crossing into the Hook illustrates the importance this light played in the history of New York harbor. Originally built at waters edge at the very tip of the Hook, it now sites approximately two miles from the end due to a natural northerly movement of sand.
Sandy Hook Lighthouse is part of Gateway National Recreation Area at Sandy Hook, NJ. The Sandy Hook Lighthouse was restored in Spring 2000.
Sandy Hook Lighthouse was completed in 1764 and is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse in the United States. It is 29 feet in diameter at the base and 85 feet tall. Its 45,000 candlepower light can be seen for 19 miles. It was registered as a National Historic Landmark in 1964.
In the deserted school, these coat hooks caught my eye. They still bear the names of the last children to use them.

Finished one more render of micro Hook and Ladder 8. This time with brick-built walls instead of plates.

Like many armchair quarterbacks, I am urging my team on during the National Football League playoffs. If only they would take my suggestion and use a Hook and Ladder trick play!!
This photo was taken by a Minolta Autocord Seikosha-MX (Chiyoko) TLR medium format film camera and Chiyoko Rokkor 75mm f/3.2 & 3.5 lenses with a Y2 30mm bayonet filter using Kodak TX-400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized by Photoshop.
