After bringing home a bit of viili from class, I poured in some organic pasteurized homogenized milk (best I could do). Yesterday morning, it was definitely souring but not quite as viscous as the previous class batch. Last night, it seemed about right, so I transferred it to the fridge. It tastes mildly sour, almost but not quite effervescent, and is quite thick in a pleasant sort of way. Matt pointed out that it would make great ice cream. Would the critters that contribute to its viscosity last through freezing?

I find Bucks County, the place I was born and raised, to be an exteremely beautiful and unique place. Its landscapes, especially during sunrise and sunset, seemingly never cease to amaze me. On the bottom, is miwaLyric's The Recipe. Harkening back to the golden ages of rap, miwaLyric expresses one's cultural identity in a society where culture is slowly homogenizing. Does one embrace their own culture for preservation or does one embrace the culture sold to them by mainstream media? In The Recipe, each track progression is a glimpse through the eyes of anybody fighting cultural conformity.

The decisions surrounding the "remaking" of Coney Island are pretty sad. This is an image we will probably not see by next summer. Next summer, it will be a fancy restaurant and giant sports bar, no more hot dogs and pizza, no more boardwalk games and beers in paper bags. It's Halloween today, apparently. I had a small child with paint smeared on her face come to my door at 2pm, holding a Woolworths bag and asking "trick or treat!" I paused, gave an awkward smile and said "Sorry, I don't have any lollies." As part of my discussion post this week, I decided to examine the differences, using food coloring, between flowers placed in a cup of water vs. oil/water mix vs. just oil. While setting up, I noticed that in the glass with both water and a lipid (I used canola oil), the food coloring droplets would settle at the top layer of oil. However, once they got right below it and hit the water, they burst open, as you can see, and began to homogenize with the water. The differences in each fluids' density meant that as the food coloring traveled down, it's reaction upon coming into contact with the other liquid changed.

Jean Ger: The two pictures I choose in this college I put together are the top left picture as well as the bottom left picture. I chose the top first picture because it reminded me of the term "Under Western Eyes" I learned in FMST1 last quarter, in which is defined by the homogenizing of other experiences by the first world. It also reflects a "one globe, one human race" standpoint. I chose the bottom left picture because it reflects diversity, similarity, and privilege all into one photo depending on how you look at it. Everything imaginable appears to be available in this micro-urb but real places are difficult to find, its spaces confuse an effective cognitive mapping, its pastiche of superficial reflections bewilder co-ordination and encourage submission instead. Entry by land is forbidding to those who carelessly walk but entrance is nevertheless encouraged at many different levels. Once inside, however, it becomes daunting to get out again without bureaucratic assistance. The four elevator banks (each containing three cars for a total of 12) are named by colors and symbols: Red Circle (the only one that goes to "35"; the other three only go to "32"), Yellow Diamond, Green Square, and Blue Triangle. The color-coded system of directions was a later addition, as visitors found the space confusing and hard to navigate.[13]
