looking at the old shitty wiring that was started in the 1950's and wrongly added onto since...

The old switch box. The wires have been pulled back up to the top. This will be mostly covered by trim, the rest covered by spackle and texture.

As a brief side note, during all the rest of this activity, Jim also put together new shelving for the washer and dryer closet. As can be seen, there was only one shelf, high up and back. The wall has some test painting that Margie had done several years ago. By the time Jim was done there were two better shelves in back, a broad board /shelf across the washer and dryer, shelves down and to the right, and the whole thing was repainted.

Box for the outlets, one switched (for the closet light) the other hot (for recharging stuff at some point?).

... annd the clothes descending back into the darkness beyond. Mostly either hung laundry or jackets that never make it out to the coat rack during the winter.

Had to wait until I got the electrical inspection completed before I could get the weed barrier down and the structures in place. To boot it rained for a week (which is good, considering how dry it was this year) and I wasn't going out in the crappy weather to lay down the barrier. I have some days of nice weather coming so I can get a lot of things needing doing finished.

Chiller Expo, April 2015

(that was the name of the green paint. "liberty park.")

we tried out many, many different scenarios for furniture arrangement in the office. should we share a desk? should our desks face each other? as you can see we ended up dividing one wall down the middle, but we share the file cabinet and the monster shelf that tom built.

We haven't seen a contractor to work on our house since before Christmas. The only way we are going to be able to move back into our house is do the work ourselves. Today we put the new flooring in Billy's room.

Insulation in the ceiling! For whatever reason, the City & our gas provider consider this insulating the floor--but I consider it insulating the basement ceiling. You say tomato, I say tomato...just stuff the fiberglass into the beams, okay?

We started in the hallway for the flooring project. I think most of the challenges took place in this part of the project.

After the initial clean-up of the wine cellar. Lots of broken glass and what look like pools of blood (would that it was) but were actually wine.

With the exception of the TV unit and something for the big wall, this room is done. The rug came from Lowe's.

No-name chop saw. Very handy when I was reframing the bathroom.

If we paint them, do they have to be white or can they be dark?

Handyman, journeyman, electrician , licensed electrician, construction electrician, master electrician the choices may seem more overwhelming than the tile selection at Tiles- R- Us as you flip through the yellow pages trying to decide who to hire to complete your wiring project. “Who should I hire,” Screams through your brain. I’ll simplify it for you. www.hirecontractor.com/contractor/hireamasterelectrician....

Rooms To Go still has to deliver one without a scratch (we're on try 4) but this is what it looks like now. We moved the rug from the living room into the dining area under this table.

Once upon time, in a quiet village, stood a small bungalow, which suffered from neglect because its owners didn't have any money to maintain it properly. A sign "for sale" had been standing in the front garden for a very long time, but nobody was interested since the bungalow was of very modern design, which was a sharp contrast to the rest of the historic village. Day after day the wood rotted away and nature slowly took over the garden, until only a complete make-over could help the bungalow to survive...

Found 2 large rocks that had been dug up during the drainage work. The first was easily loaded in the bucket. The second was pretty close to the house so it was a chance to use the backhoe to move it into the open before picking it up.

...And the old stud wall with it!

Finally got rid of the nasty cream one!

Posted for those who keep hearing about the bathroom remodel I did last year (with little additions over time). Metal theme is brushed nickel.

Vanity and top: Building Materials Outlet

Toilet (comfort height) and paint: Lowe's

Art, hand towel rack and towel rack: IKEA

TP holder: Marketplace vendor through Amazon.com

Mosaic tile and cove tile: Ceramic Tile Center

Towels: Target

Proud Wine Cellar, using some fancy clickable wine rack modules that anchor (and anchored) to the wall. But disaster is lurking in the wings ...

If you have one of these in your toilet, replace it and smash it into millions of tiny pieces.

Kay took this after-the-fact shot, showing how we're already filling up the closet rack (albeit mostly with laundry).

After purchasing a new sectional I decided to add brick as an accent color to the room. Bought a new lampshade and some paint and a few throw pillows. For $65 got a new fresh look to my living room!

The pour was delayed a day but it finally got completed today.

We start by emptying out the space. The shelves go up into the craft room. The contents go out into the living room for Margie and Ginger to sort.

A portion of our driveway and an additional pad were poured today. Grandma made sure to have the boys put their hand marks in it while Mom and Dad were at work.

A prayer mat or prayer rug is usually a square piece of cloth, sometimes even a large pile rug, utilized by Muslims and some Christians for daily prayer. During prayer, one must find a place in the house that is free from distractions and in order to do that, one must kneel on the ground or the floor, bow their heads, and prostrate. redcarpets.ae/prayer-mats-dubai/
