The other day I was telling you here about how the flooring salesperson likely miscalculated how much flooring I'd need, given the dimensions of the area. I was right. I'm 3 boxes short.

You'd think that since she sells modular flooring by the square foot, and has been doing so for a long time -- not just Marmoleum, which as said she knew little about, other brands too -- she'd have some aptitude for this. eehnope.

I put in the part that goes under the washer and drier so I can pull those back in and not have to move them when I get more flooring in, oh, a week. Grrr.

Rain started in the afternoon so the pour was delayed a day.

Another view of the front with the new beds.

Our new kitchen goes from a little too country to a little more rock 'n roll.

We're putting treads & risers on the basement stairs. Trying to finish all the projects related to the original permit.

Since we only had cable TV there was only a single ground block installed on the outside of the house. Here I have replaced that single ground block with a dual ground block so the coax from the roof antenna could be added. The green ground wire is attached to the master ground coming out of the electrical meter.

Painted the stucco in the back over the long holiday weekend.

Siding Removal Step 2 Exterior Remodeling of House Built in 1749 Maplewood, NJ

The tile has been removed, as well as the vanity and toilet. That tub was a pig. Heavier than ten heavy things, but we got it out.

Photos of our original basement floor before painting. At this point, the floor has been thoroughly vacuumed, scrubbed with TSP and mopped.

Jim removes the door for sanding and repainting. One of the activities will be painting out the rest of the "dark" in the upstairs hallway, including doors, trim, baseboard.

The perimeter glass tiles are up, and the curved tiles on the top of the frame have been installed. I've got these long thin quarter-rounds that I'm putting vertically, and they'll meet up at a 45° angle in the corners like I've done with wall trim.

And this is where something become a bit apparent: The window placement in regard to the tiling that I'm trying to keep in line with is kinda goofy... so this is going to be a bit lopsided on the sides, but I'm trying to trompe l'oeil how the upper part looks by adding a little extra space between the subway tiles to compensate for the lack of symetry that exists on the right. Fake it 'til you make it, or while you make it.

Took a few minutes tonight to tile the backsplash over the other counter. Also got some snazzy new switchplates and... some tiles with rounded-over edges.

In the interest of full disclosure, the main counter's backsplash has experienced a small setback. See, I had tiled it from edge to edge and it looks great -- but not from facing the ends. American Olean makes cove tiles for those ends, which hide/cover the backerboard edges (see the left and right sides above), and I am going to be cutting out the end tiles to put cove tiles and radial corners in. Oops. One benefit is that since those new pieces are 2" high and the regular subway tiles they're replacing are 3" high, I'll be adding one row of green glass tiles!

Also, it wasn't until the thing was grouted that it became obvious there is a cracked tile near the middle over the sink!! Seems the grout acted like those red pills you had to chew in school to see how good a job of brushing your teeth you did. Whoops. One bonus of that grout 'indictator' is that it showed where the stray bits of mastic on the tile faces from my fingers as I put them in that I'd missed wiping off during the laying are, so I was able to find (not easy since it's white-on-white) and scrape those off.

Job Done ( just need to empty the boxes back onto the book shelf)

I painted our bathroom Echo Lake Aqua (Glidden) this weekend! Love it!

Finally got rid of the nasty cream one!

We took the busted-out rubble to a guy I know who recycles it into... aggregate for concrete.

Almost there--need to finish spackling and paint.

The hall bathroom in our 1983 house needed a little facelift, and while it's still not ideal, it's miles better than it started out!

We finally got around to buying the light rail trim to finish off the bottom of the cabinets. Installation went pretty quickly despite having a few screw heads shear off. I'm becoming less of a fan of screws from Lowe's/Home Depot.

The sinkhole outside my wall.

Completed in time for Thanksgiving.

(What it looked like before)

Now all that needs to happen is hang every sheet.

The half-tiles have been installed under the windowsill and the glass tiles around the perimeter have been put up. By the way, this glass color pattern was discontinued 2 years ago, so sayeth the local tile store, so a complementary yet different color scheme has been procured to occupy the inside surfaces.
