Twice a year nests of the swiftlet are harvested from islands off Central Viet Nam's coast. These are used in making bird's nest soup. The birds' spit used in binding the nests is said to have aphrodisiac properties and reputedly helped emperor Minh Mang father some 140 offspring.
Hoi An at night. No tripod so I had to just lean against the wall and hold my breath to stay as steady as possible!
Hoi an is a UNESCO listed old trading down mid way up Vietnams coast. Its car free and very touristy but we still loved it. Was a great place to spend a 5 days chilling and catching up with Ian and Catherine.
