Hoi An is a city of Vietnam on the coast of the East Sea. It has approximately 120,000 inhabitants and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1999). It is well preserved ancient town and is a good example of an ancient South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Hoi An means "peaceful meeting place" . The Thu Bon River flows through the old quarter of the town.
