It's not everyday when one of your favorite people goes and gets a hip replacement, but Danielle needed it, and needed it badly. Stopped by and made her smile a little bit when I was up in Michigan
In October, when my wife Sammy fell and broke her hip, her head landed in a muddy swamp. This resulted in her hip being replaced, followed by several days in a rehab facility. The hip replacement by an outstanding surgeon at Kaiser hospital went very well and her recovery went extremely well, but it took 7 days before they could wash this mud out of her hair. She never complained about pain or discomfort of any kind, but she sure did make it known that she was unhappy about having to sleep on this muddy hair-do, or look like this in public... You would never know this 77-year old lady of mine has beautiful long blonde hair..............

PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE: Geographic Variation in Spending for Certain High-Cost Procedures Driven by Inpatient Prices
Note: Data were from 78 MSAs. We included all MSAs with a sufficient number of episodes to support our analyses for all three procedures. For each procedure, the lowest- and highest-spending quintiles each consist of 16 MSAs. Prices and spending were adjusted to control for geographic differences in the cost of doing business and differences in demographics and health status of enrollees in each MSA. Prices and spending may not add to totals because of rounding.

Song of the Day: This Day - Bran Van 3000
Grannie had her hip replacement this morning, in Bermuda. It went very well and she'll be out of the hospital next Monday. In Case you've forgotten I'm going to be down there from the 2nd (Thursday) to 12th of June.
Went to homegrown with Chris & Sara. Ate lunch, talked to Jesse. Magnus skated the bowl for the minute, but they're doing some work on the stage so he couldn't really do much.
Went to work, we served like, 7 tables. Oi vey.
I'm going to the city tomorrow to buy a new lens since my kit lens has officially given up the ghost. I'm 99% sure I'll be getting a 18-135, I really need something like that, since I can't afford more than one new one and currently non of my lens autofucus. And 50mm can get tiring after a while, even though I'll probably keep using it for my 365s.
A happy view from just in front of my apartment in Troy, New York, USA on July 24, 2025! This bloom lasted for one day, but it will live in my memory for much longer! Today--July 25, 2025--I went to my orthopedist for my 2-week follow-up appointment after my 2nd hip replacement surgery & got a clean bill of health & a whole lot of "Rah, rahs!" My incision is healing well & everyone was impressed by my walking! It would seem my body has the ability to heal well! I need to continue taking Celebrex & 80 mg. aspirin for a couple more weeks & icing & elevating my leg for the (normal) swelling, but can resume taking my usual vitamins & using my treadmill. I can resume driving as soon as I feel I can safely move my foot from brake to accelerator. I think I may give than another week or so! Although I shouldn't overdo, I am encouraged to resume walking as much as is comfortable. Bugs & flowers, here I come! Thanks to the helpers that God provided each step along the way, I am amply provisioned & can rest & take life at my own pace. I am feeling very thankful as I contemplate a future with less pain & more ability to get out & enjoy life!

Just 7 weeks after hip resurfacing surgery, Hunter gave friend and former NFL star, 12 times pro linebacker Jr. Seau a surf lesson using the Indo Board Original Deck and Gigante Cushion. Afterward, they paddled out for a morning surf session near Jr.'s house in Oceanside, Ca.. Look out! Hunter is back! And he's feeling like his old self carving it up in the lineup! See Hunter's progress on his vlog at indoboard.com/blog/2010/06/08/indo-boarding-surf-lesson-w...

They let me go home on Friday--here I am right before I changed into my regular clothes. There is still a long way to go, but I can feel the improvement already. I can stand flat footed on both sides, and the pain is different than before surgery. I can't wait for the swelling to go down so that I can get a real night's sleep.

Well, it's official. I'm getting my Hips replaced this year. My first surgery is slated for April 9. The second one is approximately July 8. Lose of cartilage, several bone spears, and years of playing Goalie in ice hockey have taken its toll on me and I need to improve my quality of life......................so, I'm going to become the Bionic Man !!!!!!!!!!!........of course I had to schedule the surgery AFTER the Chattanooga ArtCar Weekend on April 4-6.Wouldn't want to miss that...........

skeleton in the garden, slightly tangled in the clothes line. Three weeks post-op and it's still holding up despite punishment on hills. Certainly smoother operation than the old crusty bone grind. Guess titanium and ceramics are a bit harder than bone with a poly lubricant spacer layer to help. Seven weeks and it does multi km on a bike.
I scheduled my total Hip Replacement Surgery (right side at this time) for after the Chattanooga ArtCar Weekend. Here I am about 3 hours after the dirty deed. Feeling great so far. My left gets done in July.
