Sitting in a tree, making a noise quite like a squeaky door hinge.

Got the hinge bearing for the elevators bolted down to the center of the aft side of the rear spar. Accidentally over-torqued one of the bolts and stripped the threads. It took me over an hour to get the thing removed without damaging the spar.

For more details about the construction of the horizontal stabilizer, see the build log.

I used glass beads (including 1 from Africa) to adorn the wire that protects the hinge from wrenching

Had a thought somewhere between awake & asleep last night involving hinge bricks - this is something I whipped up in LDD this morning. Now I need to figure out how to attach a shell of wedge plates or something to the outside. Maybe take some ideas from 2nd physical prototype?

My Lady found this at a garage sale in fairly bad shape. Appears it had been outside in the weather for a while. Lots of cracks and water/chemical stains on top and one of the front doors. Lots of dust and dirt. But structurally sound. Kept the pulls and hinges, but the feet were replaced with new ones from Van Dyke's Restorers (could not find those in our area here).

Taken with a borrowed camera (thanks James!) on a last-minute holiday, in unseasonably good Lake District weather.

Just outside Skelwith Bridge.

You know that really crisp sunshine on a clear, cool day in Autumn? Well, this is it. I love the punchiness of the image, the way the gate just seems to hover in front of the blurred background. Came out far better than I expected, just a grabbed shot near the end of a long walk.

We positioned the assembled hinge and pintle with the hinge resting on the shutter and the pintle on the casing.

I took this using the in camera macro function then added the sepia colour in Photoshop.

This beautiful hardware graces the door of St. Thomas Church on Fifth Avenue.

A hinge at the Capitol. They used to get stolen a lot, I'm told.

Late post today... it's a slacker type of day.
