I really like the textures that you can see in this door and hinge. I have combined the original colour image with a monochrome image to increase the contrast and I think this works well.

So much detail was put in to everything, even the door hinges that can't be seen when the door is closed.
I was happy to see this guy while attempting to take pictures of squat lobsters...but end up with a hermit and a shrimp This site never ceases to amaze me.
These pictures show the process of regluing or ‘tightening’ the book’s hinge or the space between the spine and the book cover that at times becomes loose. As you can see a knitting needle has glue applied to it and is inserted into this space we call the hinge. Once dry the book is back to being nice and tight.
Current 2000's era standard stamped steel door hinge (left).

Trash picked a bunch of old hinges (c. 1900) from this house under remodel - they were covered in about 15 layers of paint, but after a little stripper and some steel wool, they are quite fetching.
