A few days later, during a HOT 77*, low-wind winter day, I primed and painted the hinges.
I used a clean metal primer first, and followed the directions carefully regarding the recoat times.
I chose white primer because the top coat will be white…
Afterwards, in just the right timeframe, I applied the top coat.
So is it Oldsmobile “Cameo White”…
Or is it Rustoleum “Biscuit”?
Your guess!!
Looks like a b-train but it's not, It has a double hinge. It is the only one and it has it's own SPIF combination number.
I sniff these things out. Can't explain the attraction.

I am back from my trip to California. It turned out to be a great trip.
As you know I was not able to upload any photos while gone, but I was able to spend one day out shooting with bigfootmadson, genzapata and we.destroyed.labels.
This is a shot of we.destroyed.labels (also happens to be my brother) holding a hinge from an abandoned house we found on the rim of the San Bernardino Mountains. Hopefully there will be more great images from this shoot. For now this is all I had time to process. To see the detail of the hinge it must be viewed larger.
It is good to be back.
Awww, I feel sorry for this guy. He is hanging on for dear life.

Any of these boxes can be built in any configuration, and feature functional elements like fasteners, corner posts, hardware, steel weldments, and forklift entry skids.
Amazingly detailed and careful construction shown in hinges. (The white marks on the table are just dust).

These are the heavy-duty style hinges I used. They were the thickest ones the hardware store i went to carried. They're hopefully not going to be supporting all that much weight, but I want to make sure they can take the pressure.
cast iron hinge from van dyke's restorers. I changed my mind and decided to use this style instead of the half-mortise. Then I found out they only make them in 4 1/2" size and it's too big.
