On and above the only non-motorable hill station in Asia, Matheran offers a plethora of primary colours... lush green foliage over rich red soil under the clear blue sky. You may either take the royal indigo painted narrow-gauge train or hop over a shiny brown horse as you explore this hill town.

Jomsom Airport is a domestic airport located in Jomsom of the Gandaki Province in Nepal. It serves as the gateway to Mustang District that includes Jomsom, Kagbeni, Tangbe, and Lo Manthang and the Muktinath temple, which is a popular pilgrimage for Nepalis and Indian pilgrims.

There are daily flights between Pokhara Airport and Jomsom during daylight hours in good weather. Although the flying distance is short and flight time just 20 minutes, very high mountains between Pokhara and Jomsom, including Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and Tukuche (6,920 m) on the west and Nilgiri Central (6,940 m) and Annapurna (8,091 m) on the east, require planes to fly through the Kali Gandaki River gorge. With Jomsom Airport located at the head of the gorge, high terrain surrounding the airport presents a hazard when a go-around is required and when, as is frequently necessary after mid-morning, a turn is required at Jomsom to land into southerly winds. Heat from the sun in the Mustang District causes strong southerly winds in the Kali Gandaki River gorge and at Jomsom after early morning. Cloud cover, changing visibility, and high winds, often mean flights are delayed or the airport closed. - Wiki

The wet climate of kasauli, a small hill station is a perfect weekend gateaway. Moss grows on almost all trees and this here is a nice little example.

Leh is a Himalayan high-desert city in the Leh district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir at an altitude of over 3500 m above sea level.

It was the capital of the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh, the seat of which was in the Leh Palace, the former mansion of the royal family of Ladakh, built in the same style and about the same time as the Potala Palace in Tibet - the chief residence of the Dalai Lama until the 14th Dalai Lama fled to Dharamshala, India, during the 1959 Tibetan uprising.

Originally a stop for trading caravans, Leh is now known for its Buddhist sites and breathtaking natural beauty.

This good boy got lost and I was looking for his owner. While there was time, we were able to take a walk together.

Ooty on a cold and foggy day...

As I disembark (read: drive through) the gentle slopes of the Nilgiri mountains back to the plains, the pancake clouds paints a checkered pattern over the plateau below. The highway meanders through a national forest (Mudumalai Tiger Reserve), stopping the vehicle is not permitted. This is shot at a hairpin bend as the vehicle slowed down. I found the monochrome version more dynamic, so presenting the same.

Dattagiri / Baba Budangiri (or Bababudangiri or Baba Budan Giri) is a mountain in the Dattagiri Hill Range / Baba Budan Giri Range of the Western Ghats of India. Located in the Chikkamagaluru District of Karnataka, Dattagiri/ Baba Budangiri is known for its shrine which is a place of pilgrimage for both Hindus and Muslims.

Peaks in the Dattagiri / Baba Budan Giri Range are the Mullayanagiri and Dattagiri/Baba Budangiri (height 1895 m).

Mullayanagiri also spelt Mullayangiri or Mullainagiri is the highest peak in the Baba Budan Giri Range. With a height of 1930 m (6317 ft.), it is the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris.

Baba Budan was a 17th century Sufi, revered by Muslims , whose shrine is at Baba Budangiri, Karnataka, India. According to legend, he introduced coffee to India by bringing beans from the port of Mocha, Yemen.Stewart Lee Allen (The Devil's Cup: Coffee, the Driving Force in History), Mark Pendergrast Uncommon Grounds: The History of Coffee and How It Transformed Our World, and Antony Wild (Coffee: A Dark History) relate that legend attributes Baba Budan—an Indian Sufi whose real name was Hazrat Shah Jamer Allah Mazarabi (Allen) -- with breaking the Arab monopoly over the coffee trade around 1600. Apparently, when on a pilgrimage to Mecca, he brought out seven live coffee beans, via Yemen back to India to plant in the Baba Budangiri mountain ranges.

This building from the colonial era attracted my attention on one of our walks in Shimla especially because of the warm red colour of its walls glowing in the evening sunshine. It did not seem to be inhabited, neither was it in very good repair but its red brick walls, lovely windows and graceful chimneys gave me a glimpse of its grand colonial past.

When i woke up that morning it was snowing heavily in Nathiagali we got stuck for few hours inside hotel later somehow drove back to Abbottabad in heavy snowy condition it was great fun :)))

An abandoned hotel in Lavasa City. Half of this modern hill station seems like a ghost town.

Waited for the sunset and never got it .... was pleasantly surprised to see the moon instead.
