Photo from the Champions League 2nd leg 3rd round qualifying match between Rosenborg and Tampere United. Rosenborg won the match 2-0 (5-0 agg.), and will be playing Chelsea, Valencia and Schalke in the group stage of the Champions League.

According to Wikipedia: "The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco was designed by Bernard Maybeck, who took his inspiration from Roman and Greek architecture...The sculptured frieze and allegorical figures representing Contemplation, Wonderment and Meditation were created by Ulric Ellerhusen. (The Main Dome building was) one of only two buildings from the exposition not to be demolished dates from an 1894 (world's) fair. A single dome remains from the eight identical structures that were originally constructed. Towering colonnaded walkways linked the buildings on the site, but only a few remain intact.
This is an area in the back of the iconic building, and one of my last shots last Sat20Jun09 of the area. I loved the color, but with a led pen light added a little drama to this beautiful carved woman for drama!

I happened to capture this shot (top) which is the sun with a bizarre ring around it. Through the magic of Photoshop, I was able to bring out the colors that are already there (bottom). I sharpened the image and used a few other tools to enhance and bring out what our eye can't naturally see. Otherwise, there has been absolutely no manipulation of the image. The patterns are already there. This is what is really up there looking down on us...

Producer and DJ extraordinaire Flying Lotus graced Vancouver BC with his presence in September 2010, arriving at the Fortune Sound Club with a load of high energy, big smiles, and huge sounds.
Today was magical. It had snowed again last night and I knew today would be the day I would capture the cold in a few simple shots. I went to the nearest beach, which is Lake Michigan. I tried working fast but before I knew it, I was used to it. The scenery here was great. Everything was frozen over and still. The sun was shining somewhere behind a haze of grey.
It was at this moment, while I was doing this shot that I just listened. Absolutely no one was in sight (of course, who else would want to be a human icicle?). It felt like the sun was shining for me. The Son was shining for me. Moments like these, my breath gets taken away...disappating in the air some place. How lovely was this space, obscured in white all for me. I thanked God for that moment and let Him know that I was listening. That I was aware of His presence. My heart danced, while my timbers shivered. (chuckle) This was my kind of day. My sister waited in the car for me while I wrestled with my tripod, trekking in the snow. I feel inspired just knowing I took steps in fresh snow, no one else had been there. I am blessed to be able to see the beauty around me...and to share it with you. Nothing is a coincidence. Have a spectacular, festive, and fabulous week everyone.

"What once was, is, and could be: good and bad."
I don’t want to say that priorities have changed for me. When it comes to AA meetings, they are very important. It is important to be reminded of the different phases and stages of alcoholism. Some people walk in new with fear in their eyes and shakes in their body. Others have been sober 10 years or more. Most fall somewhere in between. The stages are the reminders of what once was, is, and could be: good and bad. If I were to fail and be lucky enough to survive (lost count of the ‘lives’ out of nine I’m on) and snap out of it... remember where I’d start from. If I’m to be successful, I see what can be achieved. Never forget where you come from or what you used to be. It all comes around.
The local meetings are not my only means of support and information. I find support in helping others that do not understand what a loved one is going through. I read articles on the power of self, religion, and addictions. I talk to people with their own histories. No one method is more pristine than another. They are all of equal value and importance.
I say this because the local meetings aren’t what they used to be. What was an open forum of people talking and sharing now is forced in feeling and direction. What used to be sharing to get something off your chest now can be cut short by a certain chair person. I find what people share more helpful than Big Blue Book itself or chair person’s forceful dictation. If anything I relate it to people that blindly follow a man at the head of their local church without thinking for their own self. Nothing wrong with clarification of passages, thoughts, and concepts… just don’t shove your perception/opinion/interpretation of the Big Blue Book’s text down my throat. I can read just as well as anyone... and probably better than you.
Do not let my current dislike make you believe I haven’t learned or figured anything out. My higher power offers me tools and education to be best prepared for the challenges I face. I still have the choice of using these tools and experience in making decisions. What and how I choose to do with them is just that. Insert tired cliché of ‘you can lead a horse to water but cannot make him drink’ here. It sums it up.
No matter the choice I make, the next challenge I face I’ll be presented with appropriate knowledge and tools just as the good/bad decision(s) I made before. My higher power may shake his head when I make stupid/bad/irresponsible/wrong choices… but still gives me the same intended quality help as always. I have control and strength to go forward and face the world. I just have to be smart, see and use the help (it’s my advantage) I’ve always been presented (but sometimes couldn't see). That’s what it’s there for.
So these meetings I may cut down to just the monthly speaker meetings. May not be going about things easy or traditionally. When did I ever? As long as I have the support of my family and now my girlfriend… that is what matters for me.
