Hidden Lake is located in Glacier National Park, in the U. S. state of Montana. Hidden Lake is surrounded by numerous peaks including Bearhat Mountain to the southwest, Clements Mountain to the north and Reynolds Mountain to the east.
The turquoise blue of the lakes in Glacier National Park are caused by ground up bits of rock and sediment referred to as “glacial flour”. The movement of the nearby glaciers erodes the bedrock providing a continuous source of “flour” to the lakes. Smaller parts, such as the water or the edges of the glaciers scatter blue light, then all the other reflective white parts around just shine that back at you

The forest has taken over and partially hides of what remains of Ballintemple House, a 19th Century Portico. The Estate home burned down in 1917.
A hundred years ago it was an estate of 7,000 acres and belonged to the Butler Family where it started life as a sanctuary for members of the Knights Templar on leave from the Crusades. The estate formed part of William Marshall's vast inheritance through his marriage with Strongbow’s daughter in the late 12th century. 500 years later, the land was granted to Sir Thomas Butler of Cloghrennan, a first cousin of the “Great Duke” of Ormonde. Sir Richard, the existing heir of the now virtually non-existing estate (a few acres), is the thirteenth generation in descent from Sir Thomas.
Mangart, in Slovenia's Julian Alps, hidden in the clouds. The road to Mangart is Slovenia's highest, and I would wager the windiest.

A male Sparrowhawk. He was patiently waiting to ambush garden birds, from a perch only 2ft/0.6m above the ground, and 30ft/9.1 m from our french windows. He stayed for over 30 minutes, and although he pounced on an unsuspecting Blackbird, the Blackbird escaped, and the Sparrowhawk left empty-handed. This shot was handheld and was taken through the glass doors.

Incidentally, on that morning I had met Katia, a long-standing contact of mine on Flickr from Belgium, who is also in love with this beautiful region; we shared a pleasant morning together and then met by chance in this very forest.

I love this waterfall and even more so after a spring rain. This waterfall is largely controlled by snowmelt and rain, so I always put this one on my list after a good heavy rain as I know the flow will be good. I love the many textures here and I am amazed at just how creative the Lord is!

Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Washington, D.C.
Somebody decided to have some fireworks BEHIND the memorial. Wouldn't it have been nice if they would have been a bit higher? This was actually the only spot from which they were visible, other than standing behind the memorial I guess. But that was a pretty long hike and I wouldn't have made it in time.
Looks better when viewed on black.
This was probably my favorite memorial or place. So watch out! I have a few more shots of this place. ;-) But that's about it.
This picture was taken on the charming hill next to the church in Dienten, Salzburg - Austria. On clear days, you usually have a good view of the imposing mountain 'Hochkönig' sit enthroned with its sharp flanks above the village. Not so on this time of the day, the mountain didn't look, just strong clouds that make something very evocative mood. Unfortunately didn't have the time to work out all the pictures, but I hope to get some done in the next time.
