Jimi Hendrix had a brief connection to Vancouver. One of the city’s more prominent black citizens in the 1940s was Tennessee-born Zenora Hendrix, called Nora. She was Jimi’s grandmother. Her son, Al (Jimi’s father), was born in Vancouver in 1919. Nora Hendrix—who was of Cherokee Indian descent and died in 1985 at age 100 years—was married to Ross Hendrix, who worked as a stage hand. They lived from 1942 to 1952 in a small house at 827 East Georgia. In 1949, aged about seven, Jimi Hendrix lived very briefly with his grandmother at that East Georgia home.

"Having spent several years struggling to get his career off the ground in his native America, Jimi Hendrix arrived in England in 1966.
His talent was soon noticed and he earned rapturous praise from musicians like Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton. In 1968 he moved into a flat with his girlfriend at 23 Brook Street, W1. Though Hendrix only lived there briefly, it is his only recognised residence in the world.
In 1997 English Heritage commemorated Hendrix with a blue plaque." Historic England
The plaque was unveiled on 14th September 1997 by Pete Townshend of the Who at 23, Brook Street, Mayfair, London to mark where Jimi Hendrix had lived in 1968-69. He was the first pop star to be commemorated with the plaque.

James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix - the greatest electric guitarist of all time! He was born on Nov. 27, 1942 as Johnny Allen Hendrix and died on Sept. 18, 1970.
It is interesting to see that only very few of the younger visitors at Madame Tussauds know him.
Jimi Hendrix, I could eulogise about Jimi all week but this is about Danny He used to paint his murals on huge walls, he was unusual in that he used BOTH hands simultaniously. It was as if each hand had its own mind each hand going in different directions often using different colours entirely. He was a Genius without a doubt.

Jimi Hendrix died on 18th September 1970. I was suprised to read in the Tanzanian Daily News that he had died ... again. The article is copied from the BBC website "On this day"
