More than 20 initiatives are to benefit from an £85,000 grants donation by Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn. Case Study. Age Cymru Powys. County: Powys. Support for older people, £5,000. This funding will help Age Cymru Powys work more closely with the police, enabling officers to better identify those who may particularly vulnerable or isolated. It will help the staging of more events for vulnerable groups and increased attendance at police-led initiatives. The School Council were busy preparing for this fun-filled day through fund-raising through telling jokes and preparing a special Service so that everybody understood how the money raised through fun and laughter helps to bring cheer to other children’s lives through improving the living conditions of deprived children such as Hassan in Sierra Leone. Thanks to everybody for contributing towards the day; £180 was raised.

S.A.F.E is a project for young people with disabilities who help to raise awareness of sexual health, relationships and online safety amongst their peers in Torfaen.

Dyma ein gwirfoddolwraig Goodwash, Elleanor O'Connell. Mae Elleanor yn 21 mlwydd oed ac yn hanu o’r Rhath yng Nghaerdydd. Mae hi wedi bod yn rhoi oriau o’i hamser i gefnogi The Goodwash Company gyda’i ymgyrchoedd ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol cyn lansio’r cwmni (30 awr yr wythnos). Menter gymdeithasol newydd o Gymru yw The Goodwash Company sy’n gwerthu cynnyrch ‘molchi moethus gyda Chydwybod Gymdeithasol. Mae elw Goodwash yn mynd i achosion da lleol sy’n helpu i newid y byd un golchiad ar y tro. Astudiodd Elleanor ym Mhrifysgol Griffith ar Arfordir Aur Awstralia ac mae’n chwarae ar hyn o bryd i dîm Pêl-droed Americanaidd Valkyries Caerdydd.
This is our Goodwash volunteer Elleanor O'Connell. Elleanor aged 21 from Roath, Cardiff has been volunteering hours to support The Goodwash Company with its pre launch social media campaigns (30 hours per week). The Goodwash Company is a new Welsh social enterprise selling luxury wash products with a Social Conscious. Goodwash profits go to local good causes that help change the world one wash at a time. Elleanor studied at Griffith University Gold Coast Australia and currently plays American Football for the Cardiff Valkyries team.

An exciting new project launched to help people over 54 get back into work is already proving a success.
Workways+ Powys offers free, tailored and individual support to help people overcome barriers to getting back into work. This could include mentoring, confidence building, informal help with on-line and traditional job-seeking, interview skills, help with CV writing, sourcing trial work placements, training, or guidance on setting-up in business. Kerry Smith. EYST Homework Club Volunteer Tutors share their skills and expertise with young EYST Clients. These volunteers give an hour of their time every week to tutor a young person for a period of 10 weeks. This helps them improve their understanding and confidence in that subject, and improve their results in end of year exams. Volunteers also gain in confidence and experience, inspiring them to go on to bigger and better things…
The new Highland cattle, grazing on the Oxwich NNR fen restoration area. They've helped restore over 5ha of fen at the reserve over the past three years. The cattle open up areas of the sward providing ideal habitat for wading birds like snipe, which can be seen from the bird hide.

Academic high achievers from Powys, Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot descended on Crickhowell High School to take part in a Seren Event.
The Welsh Government’s Seren project is designed to help more Welsh 6th formers and students get into the UK’s top universities. Delegates heard from representatives of a number of universities and received advice from former Crickhowell pupils who’d finished university.
