Located close to the Chao Phraya riverfront on Bangkok's west bank,
Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn) is one of the city's most prominent landmarks; it's towering steeple-like stupa, surrounded by four smaller spires known as prangs, forms a unique shilouette, at first as reminiscent of a gothic cathedral as a normal Thai temple.
The temple itself is located behind the stupa/pagoda and is a fairly extensive complex founded in the late 18th century, but it is generally the giant spire-stupa, built in the first half of the 19th century, that visitors focus on.
The monument is almost entirely encrusted with porcelain mosaic decoration which extends to much of the figure sculpture (rows of crouching demons, monkey warriors and apsaras can be seen propping up the tower at various levels). Two terraces, one and two thirds up respectively, afford spectacular views over the temple complex and across the Chao Phraya and city centre beyond. The upper level however is only accessible via a terrifyingly steep staircase!

Backstory:
Modeled loosely on the "British Bulldog", wearing a giant armoured "collar" and displaying helpful phrases such as "Keep Calm and Carry On", Ramparts quickly gained popularity on the streets a variety of friendly nicknames arose (such as "Bullbots", "Hoverdogs" and "Flying Gits"...).
Rampart's programming was only possible due to the research and development of the Epoch Foundation. Their studies on packs of Rumbles in the "wild" had given the robot designers back at the factory a massive boost in the field of networked intelligence. Whereas Rumble packs were limited to 5 or 10, packs of Ramparts initially started at 20-40 but quickly evolved by themselves to incorporate as many as 600! Tho each bot possessed only half the individual intelligence of a Rumble unit, their combined hive-like intelligence became a near omnipresent guardian over their area of the city. Their reaction time in an emergency was so quick, their analysis so good, they'd soon learnt to predict incidents and help avoid them. They would request people leave shops before the fire alarms had even gone off, they would form walls in roads seconds before the hovertruck's brakes failed, they'd be waiting to encircle the mugger as he ran around the corner... There was no doubt - they were super smart as a team!
Sometimes, however, the glitches would appear again. The same ones first seen in Rummage and passed onto Rumble. A single Rampart would follow the ambulance to the hospital, wait til the little boy was discharged, follow him home. Some followed criminals around and stopped them committing more crimes while protecting them from other criminals. Some made friends with lonely folk from the old peoples home, sitting next to them while they fed the ducks. Their constant watch over the people of the city, the constant duty of care and the personal thanks often received, had caused emotional reactions within some packs. They seemed to demonstrate compassion.
Initial research by the Epoch Foundation suggested that these Ramparts were separating themselves from their packs, in order to be with their chosen human. A lot of study and some controversial papers however, drew the conclusion that this wasn't the case. Not only was each bot that adopted a human still in full communication with it's pack, it was in fact acting as a conduit for the will of the group intelligence and feeding back emotional responses to every other member. The pack was adopting those who were most in need of support, care and attention among the humans they watched over and it had sent out a representative, an ambassador, to act on their behalf. Sometimes the human outgrew the need for the support and the bot left. Sometimes they embraced it and depended on it. No matter what people thought about it tho, it never changed their resolve and it soon became a common occurrence all over the world to see a single battered robot hovering silently behind a funeral procession, or returning daily to a grave to just sit.
