“Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive”

More pruning, a little reorganizing, added some crypts & java moss, as well I removed that last lump of plants off the drift wood (My goal is to get java moss to overtake it). I have started to use the Tom Barr EI (Estimative Index) system to fertilize my tank and help with the algae issues. I am lacking a nice carpet plant right now. Due to Canadian winters its impossible to mail order some and not having a car means I use public transit, generally not a good idea to walk tropical plants home in the cold.

[sorry for the grain. i dont know what happened]

ok, i want to work on getting sprout's hair 100% this week.

her part is rooted & thatched but the hair is sitting up higher than normal-not laying flat like regular stock hair.

sooooo, since it is heatproof, can i do the wet towel/iron method to get it to lie flat against her scalp?

I had the amazing opportunity to take pictures for families who couldn't afford it this last christmas season. It was truly amazing.

Mr Minimalist advises me to cut down my extensive collection of fashion dolls to make way for one or two gorgeous Blythe's. So I'm so excited to be joining this group to help inform my decisions. What kind of hair? Long or short? Light or dark? Hmm!

Today, I had to keep my eyes open to catch serendipity all around me. Nori wanted to help and came with me.

In the field of integrated development, scaling up is often a benchmark of success – but what does scaling up actually look like?

For population, health, and environment (PHE) programs, local context matters, and successes from one community may not be immediately replicable in another. In those cases, is it realistic to aim for scaling up? Or is another benchmark needed? Could resilience offer a new framework to help practitioners plan for growing PHE programs?

Join us October 14 to hear from Conservation Through Public Health’s Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka and Blue Ventures' Caroline Savitzky as they discuss the challenges and opportunities they’ve faced working with growing PHE programs in Uganda and Madagascar. The Wilson Center’s Roger-Mark De Souza will put PHE into the broader context of resilience, and the potential that reframing has for scaling up or expanding out.

Photos of trash and debris in and along the banks of the Historic Bread and Cheese Creek. Mark your calendars for the Spring Bread and Cheese Creek Cleanup on April 11, 2015 from 8 am - 2 pm in conjunction with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay's Annual Project Clean Stream! We will be targeting the area of the stream from the Berkshire Community to North Point Road! Volunteers of all ages and abilities are needed! Help us remove the trash before it flows into Back River, the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean! Every piece of trash removed is a small victory to be celebrated!

We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we need people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to help at registration, setup food and snacks as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. We will provide lunch and snacks as well as gloves. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but suggest bringing your own if you have them.

Registration is at 2048 Plainfield Road, Dundalk, MD 21222 and will open at 7:00 am and we will enter the stream at 8:00 am after a brief orientation!
