A bit strange shot. I know it. But I like how colours appears in the end :) Was the helmet and gloves used by Fernando Alonso with Ferrari in 2011
I know, another helmet photo. My cousin had a party today at his house and a buddy of his rode over on his motobike. Of course I had to put the helmet on and take a photo. Then I couldn't get the helmet off. My big ass head was stuck. I thought my ears were gonna rip off as he pulled it off my head.
Good times. :)
Speedmachine Weekend, Silverstone, 25 - 27 May 2018. World Rallycross (WRX), RX2 and Americas Rallycross.
This 3D football helmet cake sits on top of a full sheet cake decorated to look like a football field. This went with the Steelers Jersey for a client who served it to tons of Steeler's fans on SuperBowl Sunday down at Hooters in Tacoma, WA.
My completed daft punk (guy) helmet. Complete with flip up face shield and sequencer controlled light system.
I've received some questions about the changes I made to the design...
1) Tilt: Man.. is it nice to be able to tilt this thing up and have peripheral vision back. I wore this for 7 hours at wonder con and believe me the tilt feature was NECESSARY. I'm a huge function over form guy.
2) Scrollers: I wanted to keep the message aspect of the helmets front LED system and also be able to see out of the thing…. And I love LED belt buckles
3) Light System Brightness: The Sequencer is built for battery life, so the light level is keep down. I could have removed the voltage regulator and ran it of 9v instead of 6v (I thought about doing this) but I have only seen Daft Punk's helmets lit up in dark environments... so whats the point? Costumes are meant for parties - they tend to be at night... I'd rather last 10hrs at a party than 3hrs in the day. And besides... It doesn't look BAD with the lights off.
4) I just don't see the point in trying to exactly match the original. There is no way, that I can see, to truly be able to recreate the helmet 100% to match Daft Punk's. I don't have a LED front screen so I can see out the helmet, I don't have a green pulsing "ear" light system, I don't have a large electronic backpack, I don't run on external power, and no one famous has worn the damn thing. The changes I made to the design were both done for ease of use but also to incorporate features I wanted in the helmet - The tilt, scrollers, the squared off back "bar" (mix of the "wire" and anime versions), the in helmet power and controls were all things I personally felt improved the helmet.

SPECIAL CUSTOM HELMETS
The metal basis has been lightly brushed to enhance the simple and elegant look.
In this design version the cognac color of airbrushed artwork harmonizes with the interior finish in genuine lambskin in natural-leather color.
These are great, affordable, and better quality alternatives to the sluban helmets, making them invaluable to people who just started amassing a U.S. army.
The shaping is very true to the original, with gradual curves and a smooth brim. The texturing really increases the accuracy of these helmets, as well as getting
rid of the irritating shininess found in the sluban M1s. Something I was not expecting when I first played around with these was that they can hold goggles, just
like the Stahlhelm. This detail shows how much effort Will put into these, and it really shows. With access to cheap, high quality M1 helmets, I can start to amass
a U.S. army to rival Phima's ;)
