someone asked them to be quiet, so it's just a matter of time before all hell breaks loose.
Which pretty much explains my little friend here.
In a good way, of course.

This is on the facade of the Duomo in Chiusi, Italy and I'm told it's one of the most graphic religious depictions of hell.

THE HELLES MEMORIAL (20771 names) is both the memorial to the Gallipoli campaign and to men who fell in that campaign and whose graves are unknown or who were lost or buried at sea in Gallipoli waters (other than Australian, Newfoundlanders and New Zealanders who are named on other memorials).
Inscribed on it are the names of all the ships that took part in the campaign and the titles of the army formations and units which served on the Peninsula. It stands on the tip of the Peninsula and is in the form of an obelisk over 30m high that can be seen by ships passing through the Dardanelles.

This area is the largest active geothermal feature with fumaroles, hot springs, acid and mud pots in Lassen Volcanic National Park. It is accessed by a 1.5 mile long trail (3 mile round trip) with a 500 foot rise followed by a 250 foot drop into the thermal area. It got its name from a pioneer Kendall Bumpass who discovered the site in the 1860s and brought a newspaper editor to see it and while there Kendall broke through the thin ground crust in the boiling mud/liquid below and burned his leg so badly it had to be amputed -- he later described this place as "hell".
Looking down into Hell's Canyon from the fire lookout tower at Hat Point. Grand Canyon is big, but it's not the deepest canyon in America. Hell's Canyon is deeper. At its deepest point, it's some 8,000 feet, and Grand Canyon's deepest point is 6,100 feet. Lots of rafting trips travel down the Snake River through the canyon. Someday I'd like to do that.
The Snake River here is the border between Oregon (on the left) and Idaho (on the right)

I wonder whether the Potala in Lhasa on the reverse has any significance or relevance.
We've been meaning to stop in Hell's Gate for years now and we finally did! We had a really fun time and the kids loved the gondola ride.
