While out looking for osprey and hawks ... the Maryland State Police helicopter came towards my position ... adjusted the shutter speed and aperture to get the slower speed on the rotors.
Captured near sunset in Baltimore County.
Right by the shores of the Oslofjord the summer house is without access by a road and some equipment was needed and could only by delivered by helicopter (Helitrans - Norway).

When there is a bad accident or someone is very sick out here in the desert Mercy Air comes out to pick them up and transport them to the hospital. When they come out here they land on the baseball field that is right next door to my house.
"M." is not happy. Sent by her family to a strange place, she has only been told that some sort of agreement needs to be reached. Apparently there is some shady man with considerable resources who is willing to lend enough money to keep the family business afloat. That is all well and good, though she is angry she does not know the details even though she thinks she is there for negotiation. And soon, her anger is going to spike, as in exchange for the loan this man wants a gift.. and the gift is M. herself.
I really hope the name is not a copyright infringement, but this pun is totally intended.
The model has openable cockpit, openable (and huge) side hatches and rear ramp, rotatable wings with rotatable propellers and (sadly) non-folding landing gear. Also there's a turret on its underside, so it is a legit flying tank.

A helicopter coming in to land at Nottingham City Airport.
Helicopters first flew in 1941, the camera is from 1937 which I think is quite cool.

On peut apercevoir un hélicoptère faisant la navette entre la vallée et peut-être le refuge d'Argentière à 2700m.
We can see a helicopter commuting between the valley and perhaps the refuge of Argentière at 2700m.
A rather new MH-47G sits in an LZ in Colorado. The number in the window was used for an exercise and is merely masking tape.

Shot from the ground laying on my back as the pilot took passes over me.
Fairly dangerous as they were low to the ground and the pilot was being repeatedly strobed in the face.

Pocket Wizard triggered SB-800 on the dash gelled 1 CTB and another behind the pilot gelled 1 CTO.
Slowed the shutter speed here to 1/100th of a second to keep the rotors in motion as the helicopter flew by. Just need to keep a steady hand on the long lens at this slow a shutter speed. The image stabilizer at this speed helps a lot too.
recently I needed a helicopter as a birthday present. luckily the Italian convention was just a week before my deadline, there I met Gerwin Sturm and Gerwin can design basically anything you ask him for. he's a wonder :-))
so he whipped up this cute little helicopter and taught it to me. For the rendition in this photo I glued red tissue paper onto the silver side of a 35cm of foil paper. it folded like a charm ;-)
N17756 - Sikorsky S-55QT WhisperJet - PAPILLON Grand Canyon Helicopters
at Grand Canyon Airport (GCN)
c/n 55186 (V55-400T) - built in 1972 as a CH-19E
The S-55QT (Quiet Technology) conversion was started by Orlando Helicopter in the mid 1980s and continued by Vertical Aviation Technology (VAT) in the 1990s, at the request of Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters who needed quieter helicopters for their sight-seeing flights. It features a 5-blade rotor instead of the standard 3-blade one, revised engine intakes and exhausts, and noise-suppressing engine covers. It also has extra large windows to improve the passenger's view. The conversion was certified in December 1999.
Only 2 helicopters were ever converted to this standard by Vertical Aviation of Sanford, Florida
