A peculiar service of the Bozberg line is this heavy BLS Cargo train running towards the Constelium plant in Singen.

Loaded with Aluminum billets, it requires a Double Traction until the German border.

One of my favorite ideas to consider is the passing of time - how heavy it can feel, or how light. How we search for it and how we cannot touch it. I think I'm partially so interested because I've never had a problem with it - with aging, with death, with regret. I'm not saying I haven't struggled with those things, but that I tend to see them in a positive light. That was my inspiration for creating this image.

Yesterday I ran out shooting, very excitedly, and arrived at my location with ten minutes to spare until perfect light. I jumped in the back of my car, put a dress on, gathered my things and walked out into the field to take a photo I had been daydreaming of earlier. I waited for the perfect moment, took my test shot, and then: No memory card.

I laughed and laughed at myself, especially since a small crowd had gathered, clearly expecting to see something interesting happen, and there I was, memory-cardless... or just memory-less! I got a big "Awwww!" from them and we laughed together, and then I was on my merry way. These things happen, and if we can't learn to laugh at ourselves our good humor perishes. Just laugh, few things are such a big deal in the grand scheme of time.

Big, heavy and obvious - makes it difficult to do candid work unless you are 100 meters away.

Now he was there as the official photographer so I don't suppose candid was high on his priority list. Don't misunderstand me I own a couple of Nikons and they are great cameras - its like a tool kit - you can put a screw in with a hammer but a screwdriver would be better.

As I was there for a bit of fun and a few beers my Olympus gear was a much better fit.

A Middlesborough bound Trans-Pennine Class 185 leaves behind Dewsbury the centre of the West Riding Heavy Woollen District along with its fine display of Victorian Architecture.

Dewsbury and surrounding area was historically known as The Heavy Woollen District and acquired this name because of the heavyweight cloth manufactured in the area.

For the record, the working is the 15:47 Manchester Airport to Middlesbrough (1P81).

Former steel plant built in 1963. This factory produced mainly steel coils. With a capacity of 3,5 million tons of steel per year with its continuous casting process, the factory was supplied with liquid cast iron by torpedo cars arriving directly from blast furnaces. Although closed, the site remains intact with all its machineries, converters, overhead cranes and other steel ladles. Here is a picture of my visit in this monster of steel of colossal dimensions.

At Watson's Mill in Manotick, there are weighted grain bags in windows, used for illustrating pulley and lever systems in the mill. I found some looked a little ominous.

Interior view of the The F. E. Myers Pump Works in Ashland, Ohio. This company was founded in the 1870's. They were so successful in the manufacturing of water pumps they built this building in 1885. This building also housed the Hess & Clark Factory which sold veterinarian supplies in 1893. This place was huge with many interior rooms and open floor space of nearly 400,000 square feet. Most of the interior was dimly lit due to the wood coverings on the windows.
