Flowing with a passion after days of heavy rain. Quite often choked with debris, it seems to have had a clean out of late. Very happy to have some weather sealed gear for this - we got wet and then some. Thanks Michael for being willing to get a soaking for a shot.

I've been told its wise to leave the hoist up when letting a lift truck sit for a time. But I doubt there's much advantage when that period of rest becomes more permanent....HTT everyone!

Heavy Seas in Newhaven UK

The truly spectacular Quiraing is an icon of Scotland. Many people visit only the first short section of path. My intention was to walk around it, but heavy rain prevented me from doing so. A real shame, as the site is so spectacular.

Really heavy with both rain and flowers. The scent is fantastic in the evening.

Pieces of heavy duty industrial steel capable of carrying an enormous load.

Taken as I walked across a street in our capital city, Wellington. The crane was really on a building site in front of the building but why spoil a good story? The clouds are entirely as seen. Have a good weekend, we are 6 hours off Saturday.

I took this shot inside the magnificent Dahlia Display at Hampton Court Palace. I decided to carry around my heavy macro lens on that day, which was a wise decision.

A CH-53E Super Stallion assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) en route to a firing range in southern California during Weapons and Tactics Instructor course 2-23.

I have got to say that shooting photos out of the back of a CH-53 is one of the most difficult things I've ever done with a camera. The exhaust from the three engines creates thick curtains of unrelenting blurriness, with only a few small gaps to shoot through from the ramp. With a heavy crosswind like we were dealing with on this portion of the flight, those gaps in the 'curtains' shifted, requiring constant scanning of the entire scene in the viewfinder to ensure the subject wasn't obscured by exhaust, and some improvised yoga-like contortions to get a non-blurry field of view. The crosswind also created enough extra movement that it required shooting at a high shutter speed, which is why the rotors look nearly frozen here at 1/320.

Number 2 in my Heavy theme for this week. So light in the water so heavy on the beach. Bexhill, East Sussex, UK 2012.

In the end, the beach turned out not to be the best place last night. It remained with a little threat and a single flash of light very far away at sea! The air was fantastic, the tension almost unbearable, and the relief enormous when we were safely back in the car.

Ephesians 6:11-12

New International Version

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
