The Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican, or simply St. Peter's Basilica (Latin: Basilica Sancti Petri; Italian: Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano), is an Italian Renaissance church in Vatican City, the papal enclave within the city of Rome.

Designed principally by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, St. Peter's is the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture and one of the largest churches in the world. While it is neither the mother church of the Catholic Church nor the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome, St. Peter's is regarded as one of the holiest Catholic shrines. It has been described as "holding a unique position in the Christian world" and as "the greatest of all churches of Christendom".

Catholic tradition holds that the Basilica is the burial site of St. Peter, one of Christ's Apostles and also the first Pope; supposedly, St. Peter's tomb is directly below the high altar of the Basilica. For this reason, many Popes have been interred at St. Peter's since the Early Christian period. There has been a church on this site since the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. Construction of the present basilica, replacing the Old St. Peter's Basilica of the 4th century AD, began on 18 April 1506 and was completed on 18 November 1626.

Amarillo has many one way streets. We walked down the one way streets and saw many beautiful trees ever so brightly colored. High rises and skyscrapers seemed to stand taller and cars seemed to be void on the road. It was a pleasurable walk as the quiet theme and warm air gave us a time to enjoy the view.

The Thomas Laighton is a whale watching cruise ship that goes to the Isles Of Shoals where whale watching is an option. They also take you to Star Island and nice dinner cruises. The Isle Of Shoals is a popular island day trip to be enjoyed. On the island, they do allow people to get off the cruise ship so that they can walk around and what an incredible it is as the beauty is one to never be forgotten

Many walls in Albuquerque are decorated with brightly colored flowers or just bright colors as a way to make the city brighter. Spring is a welcoming sight.

New Mexico has many unique architectural designs, many with great historical values. The gates here aren't commonly open but it's said this was either an old abandoned castle or a religious gallery. No matter, this unique architecture is a historical landmark in New Mexico

The Vasco da Gama Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte Vasco da Gama; pronounced [ˈpõt(ɨ) ˈvaʃku dɐ ˈɡɐmɐ]) is a cable-stayed bridge flanked by viaducts and rangeviews that spans the Tagus River in Parque das Nações in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.

It is the longest bridge in Europe (including viaducts),[6][7] with a total length of 12.3 kilometres (7.6 mi), including 0.8 kilometres (0.50 mi) for the main bridge and 11.5 kilometres (7.1 mi) in viaducts.[3] The Bridge is served by 4.8 kilometres (3.0 mi) of dedicated access roads.[3] It was built to alleviate the congestion on Lisbon's 25 de Abril Bridge, and eliminate the need for traffic between the country's northern and southern regions to pass through the capital city.[8]

Construction began on February 1995; the bridge was opened to traffic on 29 March 1998, just in time for Expo 98, the World's Fair that celebrated the 500th anniversary of the discovery by Vasco da Gama of the sea route from Europe to India.

The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) (simplified Chinese: 国家大剧院; traditional Chinese: 國家大劇院; pinyin: Guójiā dà jùyuàn; literally: National Grand Theatre), and colloquially described as The Giant Egg (巨蛋), is an arts centre containing an opera house in Beijing, People's Republic of China. The Centre, an ellipsoid dome of titanium and glass surrounded by an artificial lake, seats 5,452 people in three halls and is almost 12,000 m² in size. It was designed by French architect Paul Andreu. Construction started in December 2001 and the inaugural concert was held in December 2007.

The exterior of the theater is a titanium-accented glass dome that is completely surrounded by a man-made lake. It is said to look like an egg floating on water, or a water drop. It was designed as an iconic feature, something that would be immediately recognizable.

The dome measures 212 meters in east–west direction, 144 meters in north–south direction, and is 46 meters high. The main entrance is at the north side. Guests arrive in the building after walking through a hallway that goes underneath the lake. The titanium shell is broken by a glass curtain in north–south direction that gradually widens from top to bottom.

Old Town is in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We were able to participate in the Christmas festival of 2017 where a tree was lit up with purple lights in memory of the local rancher who passed and throughout his life brought forth trees to surrounding neighbors over the years. This particular tree is called 160 trees and up close you can see where actual Christmas trees were hung to make a very unique Christmas tree.

Seasons Greetings

Elektrozavodskaya (Russian: Электрозаводская) is a Moscow Metro station on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line. It is one of the most spectacular and better-known stations of the system. Built as part of the third stage of the Moscow Metro and opened on 15 May 1944 during the World War II, the station is one of the iconic symbols of the system, famous for its architectural decoration which is work of architects Vladimir Shchuko (who died whilst working on the station's project in 1939) and Vladimir Gelfreich, along with participation of his student Igor Rozhin.

Named after the electric light bulb factory nearby, the preliminary layout included Schuko's idea of making the ceiling covered with six rows of circular incandescent inset lamps (of which there were 318 in total). However the outbreak of World War II halted all works until 1943 when construction resumed. Gelfreich and Rozhin finished the design by adding an addition theme to the station the struggle of the home front during the war, which is highlighted by the 12 marble bas-reliefs on the pylons done by Georgiy Motovilov. The rest of the station's interior features most of the 1930s plans including powder-ballada marble on the rectangular pylons (the outside faces have sconces and decorative gilded grilles depicting the hammer and sickle), red salietti marble on the station walls, a dark olive duvalu marble on the socle and a chessboard layout on the main platform floor of granite and labradorite.

The Clyde Auditorium, familiarly known as "The Armadillo", is a concert venue and auditorium in Glasgow, Scotland. The building sits on the site of the now infilled Queen's Dock on the River Clyde, adjacent to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Plans for a new building to increase the capacity of the SECC complex were initiated in 1995. Designed by award-winning architects Foster and Partners, the 3,000 seat venue was completed in 1997, by which time it had earned its affectionate nickname due to the similarity of its shape to that of the animal of the same name. Many comparisons have been made with the Sydney Opera House, although this was not the architects' inspiration for the design, which was in fact an interlocking series of ship's hulls, in reference to the Clyde's shipbuilding heritage.

The building has quickly become one of the most recognisable on Clydeside and one of the iconic images of modern Glasgow. Its success has led to the construction of a third venue on the complex, the Scottish Hydro Arena.

Sentinel Bridge marks the southeast corner of this hike (more east than south, really; It's famous for its view upstream to Half Dome, which serves at sunset as a sort of photographer flypaper. Odds are fair that at sunset the camera gear on the bridge adds up to have cost more money than any of the cars driving over it.

Reptiles can be fun to watch from a distance and should only be handled by professionals who are trained to handle such animals. Sanctuaries and Zoos handle these Alligators everyday by feeding them or assisting them medically. This Alligator eventually woke up with quite the growl after a lengthy nap in his pool.

Old Town had a fine display of the American Muscle Cars that many marveled at. Many who walked by couldn't resist but to take a look inside.

This was the view from our super nice hotel in Umdloti, South Africa. Can a morning look nicer?

As with many, hope is everything. Church may bring hope, belief can give hope but whatever gives hope is what many will live for.

The best time of the year to us is Spring. Seems like Spring colors brings out beautiful courtyards and architecture seems to blend in so well. Spring surely is beautiful.

Waves are harsh on lobster traps as high tide tends to carry the traps and throw them up on the rocky shorelines. The damaged traps will remain until the fishermen that own the traps claims them.
