HDR of three exposures. No montage!
The grainy look of the street is because of the new concrete of this unfinished street.

It's time for another photowalk...this time we're bailing on downtown Phoenix and hitting up downtown Tempe, the Mill Avenue Bridges, the Light Rail and Tempe Town Lake! A gorgeous place to shoot, I'm really hoping we get some clouds at sunset because that can be pretty spectacular. I took the photos in this post on December 29th, 2009. Both back in my overprocessing HDR days, but they hold some fond memories for me. I mean, I just left the house to go shoot that night, it had been planned a week before, and when I arrived at this little parking lot for the photo above, the sky was already changing colors and I rushed to capture one of the more amazing sunsets I've ever seen here. Just a great night.
SOooo...here are the details of the walk:
Downtown Tempe Photowalk
When: June 10th, 2011
Time: 6:45pm until whenever
Where: I'm choosing this parking lot on the north side of the lake because of the great views of the city it offers looking south. Then we can walk over the bridges and shoot in Tempe. This MAY change, so make sure to email me or call me to verify. Map of the location.
Cost: Nothing...maybe food, coffee, whatever.
What to Bring: The camera gear you want...tripods, backpacks, maybe some bottled water or a snack.

This image was taken on 30th July 2014 during a quick visit to Chester Cathedral. It was a 7x shot HDR image (-3,-2,-1,0,+1,+2,+3) and then processed using Adobe Lightroom and Photomatix.

I had a great time at the workshop last Sunday plus we were really lucky to have Hector and John to share their secret recipes! So for those of you that were not able to make it here are a few videos... they are a bit long because I did not have time to edit them.
1. Video of the flickr geeks that came to the workshop
2. Video of how I edited the shot above. (the video from the workshop did not work, so I had to record another one).
the owner says it still runs good, has a clear title and he's
only asking $2500.......i didn't buy...better when view large

My sister alerted to me to this old abandoned house out in the middle of nowhere. So she and I set out to take some photos of it. The light was low and not the best, but these turned out nice none the less....I swear I didn't mean to rhyme just then. View On Black

A spectacular summer afternoon near Rathcoffey Castle in Co. Kildare. In the foreground you can see a field of Rape Seed flowers in full bloom, and in the left mid-ground, a ring fort. The castle itself is silhouetted against the hill.
This shot was generated by first tonemapping a single RAW image with Photomatix Pro, then running the output through Topaz Adjust 4 to give it a little more 'pop', and finally importing the image into Aperture to give a few final tweaks.
I also generated a monochrome version of this image.
This shot featured on my blog as Photo of the Week 122 & 123 - Summer in Rathcoffey.
Taken shortly after the sun went down over the horizon, a series of shots (5, all with different exposures) were blended using HDR methods to ensure that everything would be properly exposed.

Saw this scenery in downtown Toronto a few weeks ago ... in a hurry to catch my 5 shots and not to get killed by a car :-)
To get all the details, maybe give it a try and check this one in Large and on Black!
