Taken right in front of the main part of Haystack Rock, before the red "stop" sign warning visitors not to go any further.
The first day the temperature was in the 90s when we arrived at the beach. I snapped many, many pictures of Haystack Rock, seagulls, and the Tillamook Rock Light.
Many Pelagic Cormorants nesting on the Rock - in fact looking at cormorants flying to the rock with things in their beaks, the things were all nesting materials. Here also the cormorants show off their (what Sibley calls) "Hip Patch" that are part of their breeding plumage. (There is a good Hipster/soul patch joke but I haven't come up with one.) The sad thing is how many times I was looking for the white face of a puffin in a rocky nook and it turned out to be a cormorant butt.
