I'm not a fan of posed photographs, so I waited for the official photographer to finish his stuff and while they were walking back from the beach, I got this.
Cannon Beach is where you'll find the popular Haystack Rock, the third-tallest intertidal structure (meaning it can be reached by land) in the world. Didn't get to walk over to it since it was not low-tide, but still really cool to take photos of.
A panorama shot of Cannon Beach along the Oregon Coast made from 8 photos.
This is a panorama I made from 8 photos. This is Haystack rock at Cannon Beach, Oregon.
It wasn't an amazing sunset but it was a nice sunset on the Oregon Coast. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else then here.

I stood out in the cold on the beach with Laura and Ryan in what I look at as three parts to Cannon Beach. The first was the middle of the night, I was tired and disoriented; the second was predawn and colder than before; the third was when it warmed up and we went climbing around in the tidepools. I took a few mediocre shots, the two of them took some good photos of Haystack (L / R), but I just don't see the fascination. It's a rock.
I'm clearly a philistine and should be banished to the video ghettos of Flickr.
This was a about an hour and a half, maybe two, before sunrise, a three-second exposure with my Brownie Hawkeye on Ilford 3200. Grains as big as a baby's head.
Cannon Beach is recognized by its well-known landmark, Haystack Rock, located southwest of downtown Cannon Beach, near Tolovana Park. This igneous rock has an elevation of 235 feet (72 m) and is often accessible at low tide, especially in the summertime. There is a small cave system that penetrates the rock and can be seen from the coastline. The rock is also protected as a marine sanctuary, Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge and events are not allowed within 100 feet (30 m) of either side of the rock. Near Haystack Rock are the Needles, two tall rocks rising straight out of the water.
