After a day to restore body and bike, 63-mile ride from Bandon to Gold Beach. A beautiful day along the coast. Caught up with fellow cyclists that I met in Pacific City.

No hipster aspirations here; the processor just fucked up my roll of film.

Not the best sunset I've ever shot, but far from the worst. Cannon Beach, the home of Haystack Rock, is one of the prettiest beaches I've been to. I'm really looking forward to capturing an award winner from this "home run" location.

Haystack Rock and the Needles.

It was a rainy, foggy evening at Cannon Beach.

Here's a late night shot of Haystack Rock I took last fall:

Another shot from my trip to Cannon Beach in October, this time during the day, instead of during that epic sunset. Not crazy about this, but liked the motion of the water.

I've got a packed weekend. Wrapping gifts for charity all day tomorrow and then the Apple Cup at night. And Ella's birthday party on Sunday. So, I probably won't be around much and will be playing catchup on Sunday again. Have a great weekend everyone!

I lucked out along the Oregon coast when the sun popped through a hole in the clouds at sunset near Cape Kiwanda. Outside of the lower lodging rates and fewer people, you also get much more dramatic light along the Oregon coast in the off-season. Taken at f22, 5 sec., 100 ISO, 24mm, CPL.

Pacific City to Newport. 50 miles with one grueling painful climb due to a missed turn. But a wonderful sunny day otherwise.

One of the shots I got off the TV from their new weather camera.. One of those rare days at the beach !!

While I was on my belly snapping away, I got checked out by some dogs. Yes, that's right...got butt sniffed. The polite ones I hardly noticed, but there were some pretty enthusiastic greetings where I was like "Personal space please!"

They were all forgiven of course. :)

Pacific City to Newport, 50 miles under sunny skies. Finally. A tough day when I missed a turn to avoid a steep punishing climb. Drained my legs for the rest of the ride. Otherwise, a beautiful day.

One of the many cool things about Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon are the tide pools that you’ll find when the tide is low. There is tons of sea life which is always fun for the kids and they make for cool subjects at sunset.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” – Matthew 6:19-21

Going back through some of my older photos while cleaning up the hard drive. Great to come across some old, almost forgotten images, and redo them in new software.

I looked into this scene everyday in the month of May. If only for a moment it gave a quick escape from my down and sour feeling lately. On Saturday I found myself driving to the Cape about 5pm on a snap decision. I was able to hit the reset button and came back Sunday feeling refreshed. I explored some spots I hadn't seen yet except in some great photos here. I got blasted by a wave at sunset and my D7000 froze about 10 shots into sunrise the next morning. I bought it a month ago and the store exchanged it for me. Lesson learned. Inspiration is so great and powerful. Thanks.
