I was inspired to make this by the Elliott Smith song Needle In The Hay.

"hand on his arm, haystack charm around you neck"

I was thinking about putting a lone silver bead somewhere on it but I guess I will have to make another one to do that.

I have one exactly like this in my dreads. I love the way it feels coz it's all frosty!

August 26, 2017

A perfect day to hike - low humidity and cool temperatures.

Elk Lake parking lot and hike to Panther Gorge via the Elk Lake Marcy trail. We will hike over the shoulder of Pinnacle and through Marcy Swamp to get to Panther Gorge, which lies between New York's first and third highest mountains, Marcy and Haystack. This area hosts some of the most remote backcountry hiking in the Adirondacks.

Cuts, bruises, a new 46er, hiking out in the dark (13 hour day) full sky of stars, shooting stars and alas, no bear or moose.

A clear day makes for a grand sweeping vista from the observation tower at Haystack Mountain State Park in Norfolk, CT. Portions of Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont can be seen from the top.

At more than 1700 ft. above sea level it was well worth the hike, despite the constant complaint from my knees!

Haystack Rock at Oregon Coast

In the north end of Boyd National Park, NSW there is a nice, easy, 6km walk from Haycock Point to Barmouth Beach and back.

The wreck of the SS Empire Gladstone sits under the waters at Haystack Rock. It struck rocks and sank in 1950 after mistaking the lights of the nearby town of Merimbula for a lighthouse.

Dotted amongst the fields and fence lines - the hay gathers make these spooky stacks

Think my friend is beginning to doubt my claims that this was an easy route :)

The "Inominate Tarn"

This area has inspired many photos. There are several decent crops that could be made from this larger landscape. I like this. I can always zoom in.

Oh, and Tillamook Rock Lighthouse is barely discernible on the left. I didn't even know about it until seeing it in this photo caused me to investigate.

Of course there is the warning sign to make you think about turning around.
