A unity, peace and solidarity vigil was held in Birmingham tonight in tribute to the victims of yesterday's attacks FInsbury Park mosque terror attack in London.
A diverse cross section of the cities communities sent solidarity and sympathy to all of the victims of the terrible and tragic attack in London including the innocent victim who has died and the many injured.
The vigil displayed a peaceful and united stance against racism, hate and Islamophobia. Birmingham has stood together after the Westminster attack, after the Manchester attack, after the London Bridge attack, and against today after the Finsbury Park mosque attack.
People brought candles and placards, and held a minutes silence at 5.30pm, in between various speeches.
Stand Up to Racism is determined that the recent attacks are not used to scapegoat any section of our community, especially during the month of Ramadan and ahead of Eid celebration this weekend.
The far-right Britain First are also planning to march through the city this weekend, and we must not allow them to spread their politics of fear and hate.
The facebook event to oppose their march can be found here: www.facebook.com/events/405851443133120/
We urge you to help spread the word, come along and invite your friends.
These tragic events in our country and cities will not destroy our unity.
Organised by Stand Up To Racism and MEND - Muslim Engagement and Development (MEND), in partnership with Birmingham Central Mosque, Amirah Foundation, Birmingham Stop the War Coalition, UNISON, Love Your Neighbour, National Union of Teachers (NUT), University and College Union (UCU), LGBT+ Against Islamophobia, and LoveMusic HateRacism (LMHR). #NoToHate #FinsburyPark #MoreInCommon

I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car,
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick, it even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you're always right,
I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it when you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call.
But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.
