Globally Harmonized System (GHS) pictograms should have a black symbol on a white background with a red frame that is sufficiently wide enough to be clearly visible on the label. The pictogram is one of several requirements on these new labels; it is also required to include signal words of “warning” or “danger,” hazard statements and precautionary statements. Chemical risks, health risks and environmental risks are all included to help group the nine pictograms accordingly.

The impact of political and infrastructural investments under the New Silk Road on economic growth and harmonization between Europe and Asia was the issue discussed today at the Silk Road Effect Session of the World Economic Forum in Davos. The Prime Minister of Georgia addressed the participants of the session.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili emphasized the importance of Georgia’s engagement in the One Belt—One Road project initiative by the President of China. The project, according to the Prime Minister, is a great opportunity for ensuring development in its participant states.

“It is a network of different alternatives, and each of them is important to growth healthy and have healthy economy in Eurasia. This is about competition and cooperation at the same time. It is more about cooperation, however. As mentioned by President Aliyev, the Silk Road brings enormous opportunities, but there are certain prerequisites in order to get the most of it in order to leverage on the existing potential. First of all, it is, of course, infrastructure. Second is stability across countries. This is about cooperation, cross-border procedures, and unification of tariff systems. Of course, this is about political cooperation and has multifold dimensions,” the Prime Minister stated.

According to the Prime Minister, Georgia has already signed cooperation agreements with its partner states. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad project is nearing completion, being an important part of the Silk Road going through Georgia to Azerbaijan and Turkey.

In his speech, Giorgi Kvirikashvili emphasized the importance of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project.

“We are launching the construction of one of the largest ports on the Black Sea, which is the Anaklia Seaport. We already have a winning consortium, a Georgian-American consortium, and they are looking for port operators in the region. We are modernizing our railway, increasing the speed of our railway. We are investing a lot in the road infrastructure. Of course, we are cooperating with other countries across the Silk Road. We already signed a cooperation agreement with China. We have completed free trade negotiations with China, and we will sign the free trade agreement in the nearest future. In a nutshell, the Silk Road is about borderless cooperation. It is very important to mention that this economy is not only about transportation. This is about manufacturing cooperation and logistics,” the Prime Minister said.

The session, which was dedicated to the opportunities offered by the New Silk Road, was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj.

As usual, the Davos Forum hosts heads of states and governments, global business leaders, scientists, economists, and political scientists. The slogan of this year’s forum is Responsible Leadership. Global political leaders and almost 1,000 large companies and organizations are participating in the forum. The Georgian delegation led by Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili consists of Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Gakharia, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze, and Head of Georgia’s Co-Investment Fund Giorgi Bachiashvili.

The Globally Harmonized System (GHS) pictogram that displays a flame within the red diamond is used for identifying hazardous chemicals. The list of these chemicals is quite extensive, but along with the explosive, oxidizing, and gas pressure pictograms, it will be used primarily for identifying chemical risks. The risks that are presented when there is a Flammable Pictogram often occur from a reaction that causes a flame due to the absence of oxygen or because of a highly flammable or self-heating chemical.

Another element that will need to accompany a GHS pictogram on the label is a signal word. “Danger” or “warning” will indicate the level of severity that the chemical may cause in terms of health, physical or environmental risks. Paired with one of these signal words, certain pictograms will alert the user of the chemical of the potential risks. The Acute Toxic Pictogram is often used with “warning” and the Severe Toxic Pictogram is shown with “danger.” Between the two signal words, “danger” alerts the user of a superior hazard. To create a label with a GHS pictogram and signal word, use Brady’s MarkWare™ 3.8 Software and a GlobalMark®2 Industrial Label Printer (Multicolor or Color and Cut models).

A unique project—Jacob Collier’s first-ever college residency—brought together the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble, MIT’s Ben Bloomberg and other members of the MIT music community.

Collier’s music combines elements of jazz, a cappella, world, contemporary classical, pop, gospel, R&B and soul. He is well known for his viral YouTube videos, which have turned numerous legendary artists into fans, including Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, David Crosby, Jamie Cullum, Take 6 and Quincy Jones—now his manager/mentor.

In 2014, he began working with MIT’s Ben Bloomberg (a graduate student at the MIT Media Lab) who helped transform Collier’s video productions into live one-man-show performances. Bloomberg also designed and created a custom unique Vocal Harmonizer, which has provided Collier a vehicle to simultaneously combine his vocal and keyboard talents live.

Collier’s December residency at MIT—culminating with a major concert in Kresge Auditorium on December 10—involved several first-time elements. Collier and the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble (FJE) with additional musicians presented the premiere of an experimental piece crafted by Collier. Several new big band arrangements of Collier’s music were also featured, two of which crafted by MIT alumnus Jamshied Sharifi and one by Collier himself. The concert included Collier performing some jazz standards with the FJE as well as some solo performances.

In Flames' musical style is characterized by the constant use of harmonized lead guitar melodies and screaming-style singing along with death growl. In early albums such as The Jester Race, In Flames would often employ two harmonized lead guitars playing over a rhythm guitar. However, since the band only has two guitar players, they found it hard to reproduce those songs during live performances and ever since Reroute to Remain they have focused on writing songs with the intention of playing them live
