Wood Thrush singing - New Jersey
There are many songs of the woodland songbirds that I love to hear each Spring but most likely the song of the Wood Thrush is the one that always brings me joy and peace while wandering around the forests of the Northern New Jersey.
Here is an interesting fact about these birds:
“During his three-part song, a male actually sings pairs of notes simultaneously, which harmonize and blend to produce ringing, ethereal tones.
The Wood Thrush's complex song begins with several low, almost inaudible notes, followed by the rising, flute-like ee-oh-lay, finishing with a complex trill. Each bird can sing unique versions of each song part, and one male can easily sing over 50 distinct songs!” - source: American Bird Conservancy

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque - Abu Dhabi
As a testament to the vision of its founder, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque sits majestically at the entrance to Abu Dhabi City Island. The Grand Mosque is well recognized by its pure color, as it is clad with marble from Macedonia. Every artistic design element was carefully considered and fits into the overall vision of the Mosque.
Giving priority to the art of using colours to create original artistic forms. The colours of the walls, columns and the carpet are harmonized together transforming the entire Mosque into an artistic masterpiece and a symphony of colors and shades, using modern techniques of artistic glass work, mosaic, carved and sand blasted glass displaying traditional islamic designs of symmetry and repetition.
External Columns: The arcades of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque are flanking by thousands of columns, which are made of white marble panels, inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones such as lapis lazuli, red agate, amethyst, abalone shell and nacre. Their overall design has been inspired from a valued tree throughout Arabia, the date palm. From the golden capitals (anodized aluminum colored with golden color) which are in the shape of a palm treetop.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has 1096 columns around the arcade. Each piece was hand-carved and inlaid by craftsmen here on site and they used a special inlay technique called “Pietra Dura” which began firstly in Italy 16th century and reached Mughals in the early 17th century, and perhaps the most exquisite example is the columns of “Taj Mahal” in India.

Sun in Libra has an easy grace and charm that is enviable. Many have melodious voices that are easy on the ears, which is fortunate since they love to talk. When their gift for the gab meets an inspired purpose, they’re at their very best.
Libra is associated with the scales, and they’re able to harmonize and bring peace to conflicted situations. They thrive in calm, aesthetically pleasing environments, and can be easily discombobulated by the chaos of modern life.
Museum of Ethnography Budapest Hungary
Architects: NAPUR Architect
Area : 34000 m²
The new building of the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest City Park (Városliget) was opened 2022. The award-winning new museum building – which is part of Europe’s largest urban-cultural development called Liget Budapest Project has dynamic yet simple lines simultaneously harmonized with the park environment and communicating with the surrounding urban area.
The collection, which comprises 250.000 items from the Carpathian Basin and from every corner of the world, has been hosted by various facilities since its establishment in 1872, but never in its history did it operate in a building designed specifically to cater to its needs. The project was one of over 1700 entries from 115 countries. According to the decision of an international jury, the competition was won by the Hungarian architectural studio, Napur Architect (beating leading world-class architect studios such as Zaha Hadid, BIG), whose building is distinguished by a dynamic yet simple design harmonized with the natural environment of the park while communicating with the urban texture of its surroundings. The gently curving lines enable the building to function as a gateway and a passage linking the city and the park. Sixty percent of the structure is under ground level, and thanks to the landscaped roof and the transparency of the sections over the ground, the new museum is adapted to its environment in its scale too. The grass-covered roof area will be a pleasant community space awaiting visitors to Városliget.
The spectacular trademark of the building is the glass curtain wall surrounding the landscaped roof garden, reminiscent of two intertwined hillsides, with a unique characteristic, consisting of nearly half a million pixels, a raster made by metal grid based on ethnographic motifs selected from the museum's Hungarian and international collections.
The new functions and flexible spaces of the modern and state-of-the-art museum building will facilitate the understanding of the historical heritage embodied by the collection as well as the various aspects of contemporary society. Besides passing down this historical heritage, the realization of more recent professional and research themes and perspectives continues to be among the priority objectives of the museum, as confirmed by its mission. The creatively built spaces will open up new opportunities to communicate with visitors, enabling the presentation of the everyday objects, phenomena, and ideas of the past and the present side by side.
Now that there's the 1/35 Mini (and quite a few other vehicles built in the meantime) I thought it might be a good idea to update the scale system I'm using for vehicle builds.
The "Larger City Scale", as I call it, is an attempt to harmonize the different vehicle widths and scales used in Town/Minifig surroundings into a single system, according to the following requirements:
- It must be possible to build all sorts (quite an important point) of vehicles in a more or less realistic manner, especially regarding proportions.
- The widths used should be able to reflect the different characters of cars (it's obvious that e. g. a full-size car/landyacht must look much more massive than, say, a pony car like a Mustang).
- It should be possible to combine vehicles and figs standing next to them.
- It should be possible to use the typical vehicle stuff in minifig scale/City surrounding like mudguards, windscreens, wheels and roofparts.
- The seating of minifigs is desirable but not a strict requirement. However, it should be possible to seat the figs side by side or - if there's only room for one fig - to avoid placing it in the center of the car which I can't help looks odd.
Using a single scale throughout to fulfill these requirements proved to be quite difficult. Even if the figs are altered to a 1/40 scale (like I do with all the figs) it is a problem to build matching - and at the same time well-proportioned - cars - the more so if you want to place figs into them. Thus for passenger cars a 1/35 scale proved to be a good compromise. (It is quite interesting that there's at least one clone brick manufacturer - which I won't even name - who produces Lego compatible car models in an explicit scale of 1/35 which I regard as a confirmation of my approach nonetheless).
On larger vehicles like buses or semis a 1/40 scale is no problem, trains are a bit smaller in scale (1/43, 9w) because at 1/40 which would mean a width of 10 studs (at least regarding US style) trains become hard to handle and tend to "dwarf" even buildings. Still they look as massive as they should.
The idea of a variable scale according to the absolute size of a structure (the larger the structure the smaller the scale) is not a new idea, of course. An example is the use of 1/43 vehicles on 1/48 model train layouts (especially in the US, if I'm right). A stadium in the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg is built in a much smaller scale than its surrounding because otherwise it would take too much room on the layout - yet it's an impressive structure.
Anyhow, it should be mentioned that all this is not an exact science, all categorizations are approximative, some decisions are rather determinations - e. g. for reasons of proportions you find the Ford GT40 in the 2m (7w) class though in reality it only measures 1,78 m. As you may spot there's still a conflict between a 1/40 step van in 7w and a 1/35 Hummer in 8w - step vans should probably be 8w throughout, too (I'm actually trying this).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overview of the width classes (with some further information regarding the seating of minifigs and the windscreens used; probably I'll add some info about the wheelsizes used, too).
You may spot that there's a great variety of shapes used, exploiting all the possibilities of City, Speed Champions and even Lego Movie sets. Also, you will notice some differences between this and the earlier version, inter alia the missing "+-system" regarding mudguards - it didn't prove very helpful since the mudguard parts are used for different purposes: On trucks and also on vintage cars they often belong to larger structures and should therefore count regarding width whereas on passenger cars they rather can be understood as (quite disproportionate) wheel arches which in reality are much smaller.

Arthur Hacker (1858–1919) was one of a generation of British artists who trained in Paris. Here he developed a style that harmonized plein air realism with academic idealism. His art was also influenced by his travels in Spain and Morocco as indicated by the lighting and setting of this painting.

Laos has remained virtually unchanged for half a century. Rich in history and culture, Laos and its peoples, more than 47 ethnic groups, harmonize life to ancient rhythms and traditions that evoke timeless Asia. Although the trappings of the modern world are becoming increasingly visible, Laos remains the least developed country in Southeast Asia. A country where experienced travelers will appreciate breathtaking scenery and ofcourse the friendly people.
Photo of two little girls strolling arm-in-arm down the road at their hometown Kieng Than Lei. A snapshot which shows the innocence of childhood. Hopefully they always feel the lasting love of friendship. This little village is located on the Bolaven Plateau and is a great place to explore some of the lesser-known areas of the southern region of Laos. These sweet girls were so happy that I took a photo of them ;-)

Of all the places we've visited, Laos probably wins the award for Friendliest Country. Despite Laos poverty and isolation, its people were some of the kindest and most outgoing we've ever met. We were on our way to Salavan also Saravane which means one million days. A number of kids played along the road and greeted us. We enjoyed the natural surroundings exploring by local bus. Salavan spreads over a beautiful forest in the Bolaven Plateau. At this elevated area you can soak up the fresh climate and the friendly atmosphere. Bolaven Plateau greatly suffered during the Vietnam War. The Bolaven Plateau was one of the most heavily bombed theatres of the Second Indochina War. Laos has remained virtually unchanged for half a century. Rich in history and culture, Laos and its peoples, more than 47 ethnic groups, harmonize life to ancient rhythms and traditions that evoke timeless Asia. From the little village Kieng Than Lei at Tadlo waterfalls we took a bus trip to Salavan. The scenery was very good, the plateau is crossed by several rivers and has many scenic waterfalls. The scenery got even better the further East we went, rolling high hills and scattered farms and villages. Salavan province is home to the Phu Xieng Thong National Biodiversity Conservation Area, covering nearly 1,000 sq km in the western part of the province next to the Mekong river. It is thought that asiatic black bear, banteng, clouded leopard, Douc langur, elephant, gibbon, guar, Siamese crocodile and tiger and inhabit this area. This snapshot was taken from our bus window on our way to the capitol of Salavan province. A sincere smile I won't forget. A great place to explore some of the lesser-known areas of the southern region of Laos. A province to meet the friendly Lao people despite their poverty and isolation.

This outfit, while cute, isn't my own personal taste overall. It's nice enough but the white pants with this top was too bright for me, (especially with the white shoes!) so I switched out her bellbottom slacks for barbie basics jeans and it all harmonizes better for me. She also acquired a treasures bracelet.
Elementals represent an evolution divergent from that of humans. They are the metaphysical forces behind nature which assist earth’s ecology to function better. Their realms are harmonized into the earth but are not composed of the gross matter that constitutes humans.
In the midst of our chaotic world, there exist a matrix of geometric shapes and patterns
that harmonize our natural world. However, we need a sense of natural order to perceive the beauty from within. ~m

It took us about 6 ½ hours for the approximately 230 km bus trip from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang. The scenery was very good, Limestone mountains jutting sharply above the flat river valleys. The scenery got even better the further north we went, rolling high hills and scattered farms and villages. This snapshot was taken from our bus window on our way to the capitol of north central Laos. A nice view of the curving Nam Khan river valley.

Don't confuse them with regular Punks. It's more a mix of Gothic and Punk.
You won't see them begging for money and they don't wear old second hand clothes. This girl wears three layers of tights, carefully ripped up, that are harmonized with her make up.

The light of love, the purity of grace, The mind, the Music breathing from her face, The heart whose softness harmonized the whole, And, oh! the eye was in itself a Soul! ----Lord Byron
Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it.
Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it.
Hatred darkens life; love illumines it.
When the crypt doors creak
And the tombstones quake
Spooks come out for a singing wake
Happy haunts materialize
And begin to vocalize
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize
Now don't close your eyes
And don't try to hide
Or a silly spook may sit by your side
Shrouded in a daft disguise
They pretend to terrorize
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize
As the moon climbs high o'er dead oak tree
Spooks arrive for the midnight spree
Creepy creeps with eerie eyes
Start to shriek and harmonize
Grim grinning ghosts come out socialize
When you hear the knell of a requiem bell
Weird glows gleam where spirits dwell
Restles bones etherealize
Rise as spooks of every size
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize
Grim grinning ghosts come out
Grim grinning ghosts come out
To socialize
This was what I wore to the Gala Night of To Kill A Mockingbird, a Springer play for which I designed the costumes. Unwittingly, Kathy (Bai Mianxi) and I created kimono outfits that harmonized perfectly! Thus, as Kathy called it, a "kimono duet."

Photo taken in a small village of Ban Thieng - Laos. Enthusiastic children showing their selfmade automobiles and will be keen to try out their few words of English on you. When school is out, you may be lucky enough to see the boys playing a spectacular fast moving version of volley ball in which only the feet are allowed to touch the woven rattan ball.
Children spent the day at school, and by the afternoon they were doing the chores required of them…building a fire for the kitchen, sweeping the leaves into a pile, or caring for the young siblings strapped to their back …young boys and girls from the age of seven or eight attentive to the baby’s every need. Amongst this was the laughter of children playing in the village. Proudly showing their selfmade automobiles..

Not sure why, but even before I took this shot I already decided this will only be in black and white, though the colors are just beautiful that day......call it foolhardiness then....
The cranes and heavy machinery on the horizone sort of balanced-out the sun on the left, guess it mirrors the state of the environment today the delicate balance of harmonizing urbanisation while preserving our fragile ecosystem.
