Depending on the circumstance, any dog would harm their owners. Would a Pit Bull attack or harm its owner, probably? That depends on the dog's breeding, but from a reputable and knowledgeable breeder: No.

The original breeders of bully breeds were very selective in choosing their animals. They wanted enduring and strong fighting dogs.

Yes, that's true. They bred bullies for fighting. But these fighting dogs were also brought into the families of the breeders. Children and wives/husbands were kept as pets. The original breeders were strict about the temperament of their dogs.

Today, culling means neutering or spaying the dog and sending it to a specialised trainer or owner who can handle an aggressive dog.

The dogs of the original breeders were not nearly so lucky.

Are Pit Bulls Really As Dangerous As Their Stereotype Suggests?

Regardless of how you feel about this dog, clearing up some misconceptions about them is essential so you can form an informed opinion about them.

Pit Bulls were once beloved family pets, so it's shocking to hear that many people now consider them public enemy number one. That's why we want to clear the air on the five most controversial opinions about Pit Bulls.

Pit Bulls Are Not A Recognised Breed

It is a common myth that the public does not know how to recognise a Pit Bull when they see one. It is probably unlikely because the media coverage of Pit Bulls is so widespread.

The Harm Reduction Commission was established in August 2018, with Governor Baker’s signing into law of chapter 208 of the Acts of 2018. The commission is charged with reviewing and making recommendations regarding harm reduction opportunities to address substance use disorder. The commission is comprised of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, who chairs the commission, and a diverse panel of policymakers, public health professionals, legal scholars, clinicians, and local residents.
