La capacità di fare del male si è sviluppata parallelamente al progresso tecnologico. La capacità dell'uomo di ferire psicologicamente è stata moltiplicata dall'uso di massa del sistema web. Attention - CHECK THE MASSES

The ability to do harm has developed in parallel with technological progress. Man's ability to psychologically hurt was multiplied by the use of mass web system. The possibility of hurting the psyche, the Web through virtual contacts, Flickr, for example in the internal flickrmail, has increased in direct proportion to the development of media ...

Lo strano viaggio - The strange travel " click here "

We lay by cool, still waters

And gazed into the sun

And like the moth's great imperfection

Succumbed to her fatal charms

And maybe it's me who dreams of requited love

The victim of fools who stand in line.

Away from harm.

A home sits near the Whit Creek Fire. The fire reportly started on Saturday July 30, 2016 southeast of Wapiti Wyoming. High winds whipped it into an inferno on Aug 3 with the fire extending into the South Fork. Over 3,000 acres have been burned so far. As of Aug 4, 2016 the fire is still not under control.

Introducing another of my wild friends, Pancake, the dunnock.

Pancake is one of an enthusiastic and animated troup of dunnocks among the larger flock of different species that hang around our garden. I can't tell the dunnocks apart, except for Charlie (uploaded previously: www.flickr.com/photos/pogspix/52476354419) and Pancake, who both take food from my hand.

Pancake is recognizabe because of her beautiful markings ... and her habit of being right at, and nearly under, my feet in her quest to be at the front of the queue for food---I have to be extremely careful as I walk around the driveway, to ensure she doesn't live up to her name!

Here she is, waiting a bit more patiently, on a snow-glazed log a few weeks ago.

I am afraid that I had stayed at a hospitalized again.

Now I am fine.

I will be back today.

Am I just a feeling you can't name?

Well, do you see my face at night when all else fades?

Wherever you go, I follow you all the way

I could see we're one but not the same

So, don't just stand there in the dark, cause I haven't left you

I have been there from the start and I won't forget you

The distant stars will show me where you are

And no, we could never be apart

You're safe from harm

Usually a popular spot for photographers, I had the whole place to myself this time with the grey and misty weather which had been forecast. Apart from the odd rain splotch and wiping the lens, no harm done. f/14, 35 mm, 0.8 seconds at ISO 50

Over the past few weeks these kingfishers have been providing some brilliant close views & entertainment for their growing army of fans

I initially thought this was an attempted mating - but the images show it is the female who jumped on top of the male - presumably because she was too impatient to wait for him to pass the fish!

Both birds then fell from the perch, but no harm done and the happy couple soon kissed and made up

Watched this Great Crested Grebe chugging down a fish alive...

There is an abundance of snails in my garden so every day I have been selecting a new model from the population. Today, while I went outside to find the snails there sadly were casualties. Two to be exact... crunch, crunch under my feet. Ugh! I feel terrible even though I don't want them in my garden. I couldn't get the processing the way I wanted because my heart isn't in this image today... I cannot claim no snails were harmed in the creation of this photo. :(

Baby Brian does his best Kate Winslet imitation in her role as Rose in that iconic scene from the 1997 film Titanic. For those of you too young to remember (or were born on another planet), My Heart Will Go On was the theme tune for the film, sung by Celine Dion. My apologies if you now get an earworm...

For Macro Mondays theme 'Paper'.

A small piece of white paper was rolled to resemble the prow of a ship and set up in front of a piece of black paper and positioned so the snail would be back-lit by strong sunshine. Baby Brian is very tiny (a larger snail would have weighed the paper down) - his young body is very translucent, allowing the sunlight to glow through.

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.

Due to intense harm and evil choices of others you are faced with so much darkness, devastation, difficulty, physical and emotional pain and suffering, unpredictability, fear, terror and so many other challenges that almost completely crush you which you are unable to express with words. And amidst all this suffering, when it feels like too much and you want to quit trying to survive, you work to keep looking for light and moving forward in healthy ways even when it seems impossible. Thank you for pressing on at a pace appropriate for you by working to care for yourself through many forms of nourishment, working to receive healthy support through God’s faithfulness and people who deeply care for you, through rest, tears, and graceful acknowledgment of truth and reality. You still have a long way to go on this journey and it is amazing how far you’ve come.

Visually reminiscent of the Age of Rail, which had a positive impact on the economy of Hillsboro, the Katy Depot stands today in close proximity to the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad lines as well as the Hill County Courthouse (National Register, 6/21/71), the focal point of the downtown commercial district. Hillsboro was established in 1853 to serve as the governmental seat and trade center for a basically agrarian county, cotton the primary crop. The completion of the MKT Railroad through Hillsboro in 1881 increased the commercial activity of the city and broadened its economic base. With locally raised funds, the citizens of Hillsboro purchased the right of way and property needed for a depot. Functional requirements dictated the size and massing of the structure which reflects architectural and decorative styles popular at the turn of the century, reminiscent of the Prairie style of architecture.

The Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, commonly known as the Katy, was the first rail line to reach Hillsboro. Passenger service on the line, which connected Fort Worth and Temple, began on April 26, 1881, with four daily trains and a sleeper through to Chicago. The Katy Railroad brought a surge of economic activity to this agricultural region, becoming a major means of exporting cotton and livestock. As the economic base broadened, so did the population, which facilitated both residential and commercial expansion. Building materials were brought in by train and used to construct then contemporary structures. With the completion of the railroad several Katy buildings were constructed including: a frame station consisting of a waiting room, office, and a freight room; a cotton platform; and a section house. In 1894, Katy built division shops and a roundhouse in Hillsboro. The original station was converted to a freight house in 1902 and the present depot (seen in the photograph above) was erected on the land purchased by the city of Hillsboro. Throughout its operating years, the depot served as an integral part of the Hillsboro community. Among those visiting Hillsboro via the Katy were railroad tycoon Jay Gould, and Presidents Woodrow Wilson, William H. Taft, Calvin Coolidge, and Harry Truman. And, the depot served as the departure and arrival point for World War I and II soldiers serving their country.

On December 19, 1979, the Katy Depot (aka the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Company Railroad Depot) was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) for its architecture, history, and being the location of historic events as described above. All of the information above was found on the original documents submitted for listing consideration which can be viewed here:

The State Fair of Texas is an annual state fair held in Dallas at historic Fair Park. The fair has taken place every year since 1886 except for varying periods during World War I and World War II. It usually begins the last Friday in September and ends 24 days later. The fair claims an annual attendance of over two million visitors through ticket scanning. The State Fair of Texas is considered one of the best in America as well as Dallas' signature event despite its troubled history.

Seen above is the Midway Entrance which puts you right into the Midway, the Kidway, and the Funway. Also found in this area is the Children's Museum, Neon Tex (photograph featured earlier in my photostream), and the Texas State Ferris Wheel (seen in the photograph above and also featured earlier in my photostream). Additionally, immediately adjacent to the Midway entrance is the famous Cotton Bowl Stadium (also previously featured in my photostream)...home of the Red River Rivalry, which is the centerpiece of the fair and the annual college football game between the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Well, it's back to school...well, back to work for me but working IN a school is like going back to school. I had a great day back, it felt nice to be back in a supportive work environment and see everyone. This year is looking like an interesting, challenging yet exciting year to come!

For about a year before heading to Hawaii for our 25th Anniversary, I started looking, planning, dreaming about the sights, sounds, and smells that I would experience but even more, about the sights that I would have the opportunity to photograph! This photo is one of that I could see in my head before ever leaving my couch...and I ended up capturing it with my cell phone (LG G7) and not even with my DSLR. Pacific Ocean, sunset, footprints in the sand, and a beautiful sky...not much else you need for a beautiful photograph!

The original file from my cell phone had final adjustments made with Photoshop CS6.
