In remembrance of former MIIS faculty Lydia Hunt, a celebration of her life and accomplishments was held in the library on February 12, 2013. Friends and former students gathered to share memories and read written works to honor Professor Hunt.

Sarah Harmer é uma cantora, compositora e ativista candense. Ela já lançou cinco álbuns e ganhou inúmeros Juno Awards – Grammy Award Canadense.
Em 2005 Harmer foi co-fundadora da organização não governamental PERL (Protecting Escarpment Rural Land) para ajudar a Escarpa Niágara, uma reserva ambiental mundial da UNESCO localizada em Ontário, de ter uma pedreira aberto no coração do Monte Nemo. Recentemente, testemunhou contra o impacto ambiental que ameaça de extinção uma espécie de salamandra típico do sul de Ontário, em audiência pública contra a Nelson Global Ltda.
Para contribuir com a Organização, Sarah saiu em turnê com sua banda, a “Escarpment Blues”, que gerou um DVD homônimo em 2006, contando sua história, vencedor do Juno Award de Melhor DVD Musical. No início de 2012, Sarah participou da delegação que compõe o Nobel Women´s Iniciative no México, Honduras e Guatemala. A delegação ouviu testemunhos da extrema violência que as mulheres nestes países enfrentam e da extração de recursos que está prejudicando o meio ambiente e colocando em risco os direitos humanos.

Elly decided it would be good to plonk her old body on my plants, breaking down one of the solar butterflies...she couldn't care less of course, I tied a small stake to the butterfly so no real harm done, I think she found the soil cool, the plants will survive...
