Well known brands from Buck & Hickman Ltd.. Advertisement in The Ironmonger Diary and Hardware Buyers Guide 1961.

The first time I went into Dickson Brothers hardware store was probably in the mid-1960s -- when it was already more than 30 years old. A Harvard Square institution.

Hardware Store May 7th 2018

An old school hardware store in Audubon, NJ.

Custom envelope mailed in 1893 by the Clemens Vonnegut Hardware Company of Indianapolis, Indiana.

I looked it up. I've seen these all my life, but didn't know they're called dock cleats. Ready for the boat!

Another shot of Evers Hardware on the south side of the Square in Denton, Texas. I believe that this view is looking due north towards the front of the store. Note the movable ladder on the right, and the old-fashioned shelves on both sides. UPDATE:

The building is still there, with a new tenant and business (June 28, 2019). UPDATE: t is now the site of a T-shirt factory and store (January 21, 2023).

Jasmine was on her way to the hairdresser when I noticed her in Tungelsta earlier today. She is a student who sees a possible future as a fashion designer. She has a fan page called Hardware online, but I am yet to find it.

With the completion of its latest series of milestone tests, NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has now survived all of the harsh conditions associated with a rocket launch to space.

Webb’s recent tests have validated that the fully assembled observatory will endure the deafening noise, and the jarring shakes, rattles and vibrations that the observatory will endure during liftoff. Known as “acoustic” and “sine-sibration” testing, NASA has worked carefully with its international partners to match Webb’s testing environment precisely to what Webb will experience both on launch day, and when operating in orbit.

Though each component of the telescope has been rigorously tested during development, demonstrating that the assembled flight hardware is able to safely pass through a simulated launch environment is a significant achievement for the mission. Completed in two separate facilities within Northrop Grumman’s Space Park in Redondo Beach, California, these tests represent Webb’s final two, in a long series of environmental tests before Webb is shipped to French Guiana for launch.

The next environment Webb will experience is space.

Read the full feature on this milestone: go.nasa.gov/3d5Kuhh

Now that environmental testing has been successfully concluded, Webb will move forward into the last full extension of its iconic primary mirror and sunshield, followed by a full systems evaluation before being encapsulated in a specialized shipping container for transport to South America.

Framed picture in B&MRRHS Hardware Collection. Wayne Gagnon writes, “Of special note on the 3689 picture, just barely visible under smokebox and headlight, is the nameplate 'Flying Yankee' and painted on cab sides is 'Flying Yankee.' Nos. 3689 and 3686 came out of Billerica Shops in June 1930 with special paint job and detailing and also had a larger, extended tender than her sister P-2s for additional water and coal. It would be five years before another 'Flying Yankee' arrived on scene (B&M#6000)."

Tignall Hardware in Tignall, Georgia

An actual hardware, downtown not in the burbs.

Beck Building, 109 East 3rd Street, Winona, Minnesota. This 1886 Romanesque Revival building was originally the home of C. C. Beck Hardware, which later became C. A. Boeuerlen Hardware.

This development board was the first hardware prototype for the new Sifteo cube design. It's an off the shelf Nordic dev kit plus a custom PCB with our simple graphics circuitry.

I stained all the fence posts today and installed the front gate hardware.

Being a hardware store in a semi-rural area, this store offers not just hardware but also needs on the farm and ranch.

The horse replica gets redecorated regularly depending upon the upcoming holiday or season. The Stars and Stripes theme was in view of the upcoming Independence Day (July 4) holiday when the photo was taken.

Behind the horse appears to be a towable calf-roping practice dummy for participants to get better for rodeo events.

Walk in and take a deep breath... the unmistakable smell of an old fashioned hardware store. Thank God some of these still exist.

Here's yet another of the wall signs, this time for the hardware department. For some reason, the top shelf here was being used to store laundry baskets when I was there, which most likely do not belong in this part of the store. Also, this store is quite large -- why do they need to have so much backstock out on the salesfloor here anyways? I get it with smaller stores that don't have too much backroom space, but it doesn't really make sense here...
