I visited the C.T. Summer hardware store in Newberry, South Carolina earlier this week. If you ever get near there go have a look and visit with Bill Shull, the owner. The store was established in 1886 by his grandfather and I think some of the original inventory must still be there. I can't explain it well in the space here but click here to read about it. My 10mm lens wasn't nearly wide enough, but I included a couple more photos in the comments. Notice his dog at his feet and behind Bill in the mahogany colored frame is a replica of his fathers Nobel prize for physics.

I just got my first iPad, and I edited this using the LR app on it. I'm not sure I like it much as I don't have complete control that I've gotten used to on my PC. I guess I need to go look it up on YouTube to see what else I can do.
I'm calling this my "Best of 2021" image. I don't know if there was a clear standout from this past year, but I really like this view of the Columbus skyline (and at this time of day).

I’m starting to think of these Lomography Turquoise shots as pictures of the future, where pollution from Trump’s sweeping changes to policy makes our skies orange. Leica R4, Lomography Turquoise, ECN-2 development.

In the back of the hardware store
There's a man who's been there for years
He's got a pipe in his mouth
And grease in his beard...
He's the old man at the hardware store
Selling antique gas pump supplies.
He knows his stuff, he's been around
He could care less sometimes...

Bunnings
Brisbane
115% of the Australian population know of the giant, almost monopolistic hardware giant Bunnings. In cities and major towns, you can find these massive warehouses across the nation. They are also in New Zealand but strangely an attempt to set up in the UK several years ago was an almighty flop. About the only opposition here is a few Mitre 10 stores and independents in small towns.
One such is the Wamuran Produce and Hardware shown here in the small community of the same name west of Caboolture in South East Queensland. And they have a pretty extensive facility with all sorts of rural supplies . We shop here once a month at least when we buy 100 kilograms (220 imperial pounds) of wild bird seed for you know who (the pink ones) and occasionally some sunflower seed treats and the odd miscellaneous other items.
We dropped by today for five bags (100 kgs which lasts us four weeks). I thought I would give them a plug as they are a bit cheaper than city prices and always helpful, they even bring the seeds out and lift them into the boot which we find difficult these days.
Our journey from Glacier Park to The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone meant we had a stop in the lovely City of Helena. Snapped this Hardware store in the historic district which has some stunning old buildings.
Sometimes when you are out and about exploring, your eye is attracted to the simplest of things. It could be how the soft warm glow of morning light plays with the shadows and enhances the textures. Either way, the simplest objects become an objet d'art if you are in the right frame of mind. But alas it is still just some old hardware, right?
