When we were residents Rebeccah and I used to go out for sushi and cocktails after Monday evening office hours. The first time I saw this dress I was driving home from the Fish Market after midnight. It was hanging in the window of a boutique in Bloomfield and I almost crashed my car in my haste to pull over and push my face against the glass. Something about the Audrey Hepburn glory of it made me giddy and the next day I escaped from work as early as possible to look at it again in the daylight. It was the only one in the shop and when I tried it on it fit like it had been made just for me.

This is the only time an item of clothing has drew me in like this- a silly thing, but it made me indescribably happy. It cost more then any dress I had ever owned, and I had no place or plans to wear it. I would have worn it home if I could have. My lovely niece Emily has her first formal dance in the near future. We rummaged through my closet, and she had the same response to the dress that I did. Can't you just see the joy on her face? I did have to pin the shoulders, but you can't really tell. She looks so beautiful and so grown up.

I know it is just a dress, a flippity black frothy thing- but it makes me happy. And now, Emily's happiness from the frock makes me even happier. I like to think one day Josie will also wear it. It's the little things, you know?

Happiness on the way 西藏大型唐卡式歌舞诗幸福在路上

Very similar to the other photo but I felt it had to be posted. I titled this happiness because it just makes me feel a bit happy to look at these beautiful spring blooms!

Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance. If the dispositions of the parties are ever so well known to each other or ever so similar beforehand, it does not advance their felicity in the least. They always continue to grow sufficiently unlike afterwards to have their share of vexation; and it is better to know as little as possible of the defects of the person with whom you are to pass your life.

…a visual pun?

I recently discovered that there is a small photo club at the office, which started up again about 6 months ago. They meet monthly, with a theme for the month. This month’s theme was “Happiness”, and, my brain being what it is, this was the shot that immediately popped into my head (if you're not getting the reference, I might also note that the gun in question is a revolver, although the album isn't.)

Yes, this is a toy gun, and to avoid melting anything, this is two shots (one with gun and no flame on the burner, one with flame but no gun) stitched together in Photoshop, and tarted up a bit with some selective desaturation.

Happy Women's Day folks, the people who make the world a very happy place to live in :)

“Happiness, it seems to me, consists of two things: first, in being where you belong, and second — and best — in comfortably going through everyday life, that is, having had a good night’s sleep and not being hurt by new shoes.”

Happiness is ……….. CAPTURING THE WORLD!

I took this photo of my Ol’ friend Erich Schwartz during the Riley Days festival this past Fall. Erich is such an amazing person, full of energy, charisma and optimism …. It tends to rub off on you after only a few moments in his company. Erich loves the world and the people in it …………. He also loves his camera! I feel the expression on his face not only sums up the joy of photography but also Erichs view on life and everyone he encounters along the way.

Happiness is painting others face with bright colours. Even thoughthis kid has his eyes closed, the joy is seen on his face!

As in life, the Game of Happiness has many twists and turns. This is not the fully assembled gameboard--love and knowledge have 3-D attachments, as does the central direction pointer in the rainbow circle.

The easiest way to happiness finally found

but i've got happiness in my soul"

Ken 'The Diddy Man' Dodd

I've quoted the wonderful Ken Dodd in the past but his Happiness song, just seems so appropriate. He's a straight forward man with a simple need, to make people smile. His humour may seem odd but you'll struggle not to smile. Happy Thursday everyone.
