I will always call this knob in the Matanuska Valley 'Handle Mountain' because that's what my kids called it when they were little. Others, 'uniformed', call it Lion's Head.

The plant should be handled with gloves. An essential oil or tea derived from the leaves and flowering tops of the plan were used in folk medicine. The oil itself is highly toxic, and is not recommended for internal use
Blue-ringed octopuses, comprising the genus Hapalochlaena, are four extremely venomous species of octopus that are found in tide pools and coral reefs in the Pacific and Indian oceans, from Japan to Australia. They can be identified by their yellowish skin and characteristic blue and black rings that can change color dramatically when the animal is threatened. They eat small crustaceans, including crabs, hermit crabs, shrimp, and other small sea animals.
They are one of the world's most venomous marine animals. Despite their small size—12 to 20 cm (5 to 8 in)—and relatively docile nature, they are very dangerous if provoked when handled because their venom contains a powerful neurotoxin called tetrodotoxin.
The species tends to have a lifespan of approximately two to three years. This may vary depending on factors such as nutrition, temperature, and the intensity of light within its environment. (Wikipedia)

Very frosty mornings lately in Rural Nova Scotia. Went to jump in the truck and noticed the interesting Frosty handle. The pattern was unique as the sun hitting the black plastic was starting to melt the bitter cold nights Frost. The Red and Black scene gave the pop to the impression.
I wonder how many times this handle has been touched? If you used it twice a day to open and close the door every day that would add up to 1,460 times a year. Times that by 10 years and it would be 14,600. Let your mind do other calculations, at any rate it is a lot!

When I asked my wife if she had any keychains that I might photograph for this week's "Keychain" Macro Mondays theme, she came up with several, including this one. It's made from a vintage spoon handle. My wife doesn't remember where or how she got it. But apparently it's a "thing," because a Web search turns up lots of "Spoon Handle" keychains selling on Etsy..

Two BNSF helper sets await their next shove at Crawford, NE on Sept. 11, 2000. One this day, four sets were being used, three with four SD40-2's and a fuel tender and one with two SD70MAC's and a fuel tender. The SD70MAC set seemed to be used primarily on manifests while the SD40-2 sets handled the unit coal trains. I was quite fond of this BNSF scheme on the SD40-2's.
