These nylon brake bodies are plenty sturdy and will last a long time. I've used them on other machines and still using them after years of service. The parts inside them are steel and tough-enough. The levers are aluminum as are the adjusters. I have a lot of bent adjusters from thrown away bikes I've collected, having robbed these pieces off of them. It comes from dropping your bike onto something hard. Not the norm for a loaded touring bike. Most people are much more careful with their loaded touring machines, Ive noticed. So, these brake handles should last for many years. Yes, there is a heavier pull needed to stop, as they were intended for V-brakes, but only a little more leverage is demanded of you, compared to my old drop bar road-brake handles. Everything has worked out so well with this handle bar change. The bike isn't as sleek or classical looking, now, but it is much more comfortable for a touring set up.
The handle to an outside faucet the broke a little while ago. I accidentally used the wrong filter and got this as the result. I kind of liked it, so....

This was in a tube train (actually, I couldn't get in to this carriage, it was locked) which was in use in the age of steam. Bizarre how many people will have held this handle without a second thought, and now here I am photographing it.

Part 1 of my Famous Project. The door handles to the NG store in Regent Street. Everyone knows this organisation that has created such an amazing reputation for conservation. I cannot imagine a world without it.
Been beat up and battered round
Been sent up, and I've been shot down
You're the best thing that I've ever found
Handle me with care
Reputation's changeable
Situation's tolerable
Baby, you're adorable
Handle me with care
I'm so tired of being lonely
I still have some love to give
Won't you show me that you really care?
Everybody's got somebody to lean on
Put your body next to mine, and dream on
I've been fobbed off, and I've been fooled
I've been robbed and ridiculed
In day care centers and night schools
Handle me with care
Been stuck in airports, terrorized
Sent to meetings, hypnotized
Overexposed, commercialized
Hand me with care
I'm so tired of being lonely
I still have some love to give
Won't you show me that you really care?
Everybody's got somebody to lean on
Put your body next to mine, and dream on
I've been uptight and made a mess
But I'll clean it up myself, I guess
Oh, the sweet smell of success
Handle me with care

For the March MSH - midnight
SCE_4783 Blaenau Ffestiniog Railway Station.
Visited in May 2013 on a very damp and misty day. Two important steam trains came in and departed; Hugh Napier and the Fairlie's Patent 'Iarll Meirionnydd' (Earl of Merioneth in English) a double tanked engine which goes equally well in both directions.
