U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program SSG John Nunn competes in the men's 20-kilometer race walk at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials on June 30 at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Nunn, who had already qualified for Team USA in the 50K race walk for the London Olympic Games, used the event as a training walk and stopped around the 10k mark with a nagging hamstring. New York Athletic Club's Trever Barron, a 19-year-old from Colorado Springs, Colo., won the 20-kilometer walk with an American record time of 1 hour, 23 minutes and .10 seconds. He and Nunn will be the only two men race walking for Team USA in London. U.S. Army photo by Tim Hipps, IMCOM Public Affairs

This little beauty is a foam roller. It's used for myofascial release, which is a form of soft tissue therapy.

Been trying to restore some lost flexibility since I pulled my hamstring and I'm realizing I'm not all that flexible to begin with.

Feels great after you do it, but during it's like dancing barefoot with misery wearing military boots. Oh, and she can't dance.....

Spent a night shooting with a friend and paying the price today. 5 hours sleep, hamstring cramps, shoulder that can’t support an iPhone. Need recovery.

Transitioning to the road bike (1971 Mondia Special - had to be the oldest bike in the race!) - and my hamstrings are still burning :)

The first day of 2009 saw me run my first race. Just finishing the 2.2-mile race was a huge accomplishment for me. It was my first semi-competitive run since tearing my left hamstring on 19 October 2008. (If you're wondering how badly I tore it, just consider the fact that, after a couple months of physical therapy, the hole in my muscle is still the size of a half dollar.) On top of that, I came down with a nasty case of gastroenteritis just two days before this race. Despite it all, I raced, and I finished. That was a great way to start the year.

The day starts with some time on the taxes. Not the most exciting start to the day, but progress made. I'm so sore from my practice yesterday. Triceps, the entire upper back, hamstrings, sides. I think my extra time of the mat yesterday may have been a little too enthusiastic. It is nice feedback though to know that the areas I was focusing on are the ones talking to me today. Ready for work and out the door. Work. An errand on the way home. Bubbly water bottles returned and some summer beer picked up. I like the occasional beer with warm weather returning. Home briefly to change for my Kripalu class. It has been more than a month since I practiced with my Wednesday night crew. I missed them. Gail and I chat afterwards. Confirm our plans for Saturday at noon. Home. A cobbled together dinner. I really need a grocery trip. Maybe this weekend. Loads of laundry. Two old episodes of Modern Family in between the running upstairs and downstairs. Finally the bed is remade and I crawl in for the night.

I think this is right about the moment Sean tore his hamstring...

There were 6 coyotes hunting a white-tailed deer doe on the north shore of Lower Derby Lake today. They had torn her hamstrings up pretty badly, but she was still fighting them off and keeping them at bay when I left after watching them for over an hour. She was bleeding a bit fromm her back end. In the end, I am sure the coyotes will get their meal, but not without a fight. These photos are best viewed in the large size. The deer and coyotes were about 600 yards away on the far side of the lake.

This was taken for the Ima Dork FGR challenge.

It was going to be a photo proving I was a dork rather than acting like it. I pulled my hamstring while playing football today and thought I could get through the rest of the game, I failed miserably, so there was a whole series of photos with my lying with an ice pack on the back of my thigh. Then I found Herbie (the dog, dur) and my photo took on a whole new dimension.

CJ McCollum scored 20 points and Jonas Valanciunas added 16 points and 12 rebounds as the visiting New Orleans Pelicans rode a torrid first quarter to an easy 124-91 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday in a key late-season Western Conference game.

The win increased the 10th-place Pelicans' lead over San Antonio to two and a half games in the race for the final spot in the play-in tournament. The Spurs remained in 11th place, percentage points ahead of Portland, which also lost on Friday.

San Antonio has a game left with New Orleans and three remaining against the Trail Blazers.

Naji Marshall scored 18 points off the bench for the Pelicans, with Jaxson Hayes contributing 16, Herbert Jones scoring 13 and Willy Hernangomez adding 11. New Orleans played without Brandon Ingram (right hamstring injury) for the sixth consecutive game.

Devin Vassell led San Antonio with 18 points while Dejounte Murray had 17 and Keldon Johnson and Joe Wieskamp hit for 11 each in the loss. Lonnie Walker IV left the game for the Spurs late in the first quarter after a collision and did not return because of back spasms.

The Spurs dug themselves a huge hole in the first quarter, missing 17 of their 21 shots and 8 of their 9 3-pointers in falling behind 35-10 after 12 minutes. New Orleans scored 21 straight points in the period as Hayes, with 12 points, outscored San Antonio on his own.

Flexibility and relaxation of the muscles are big continuing factors for this child in her goal to walk independently. Her hamstrings are tight and her quadraceps are weak. This is her biggest challenge in walking. Even standing is a physical challenge.
